Is Isner better right now than Roddick has ever been?
https://twitter.com/#!/gregcouch
"John Isner is better right now than Andy Roddick has ever been"
"Yes, Roddick had a major, but in an era way less than today's. Isner plays better -- serve, net, forehand, backhand, never-die"
"I agree Roddick is more accomplished than Isner. And UR right, Isner has the ease of being on way up. But Isner in tougher era"
Do you agree with Greg?

Re: Is Isner better right now than Roddick has ever been?
Roddick has beaten Djokovic more easily than Isner did today. Nah, stop with the Roddick bashing, Isner cant even be compared to peak Roddick.

If Isner can beat Federer/Djokovic/Nadal basically back to back there might be an argument. As of now this is a pretty dumb statement.

Re: Is Isner better right now than Roddick has ever been?
No
If we compare only serve, he is maybe there with prime Roddick´s serve, Roddick had the pure power-speed, John has trajectory, height, heavyness of his serve
But movement and other aspects, simply Roddick is smaller guy, he had huge FH at his prime and his movement and everything else was just superior to Isner´s - he is limited by his height of course.

Re: Is Isner better right now than Roddick has ever been?
Isner needs to play like this consistently for a few months, like Roddick did in the summer of 2003. Then we'll talk.
For now, he just had two sets of brilliant serving.

Re: Is Isner better right now than Roddick has ever been?
Erm? No.
Roddick had a slam at 21.
Isner's close to 27 right now, with one GS QF.
3 titles, and 5 finals.
Roddick did more by 19 than Isner has done in his whole career.

Re: Is Isner better right now than Roddick has ever been?
Nope. Roddick has had the consistency over a period of many years. 1 slam win, 4 finals, between 2003 and 2009.
It's a ridiculous statement.
Let's see Isner do this sort of match, ONE match, at the back end of a Grand Slam. THEN MAYBE it's worth even considering the possibility. Until then, no. It's Indian Wells SF for crying out loud.
It amazes me how even the professional pundits can get completely carried away by a result.
He needs to take a few deep breaths.
