Pathetic result from Mikey, I'm assuming due to injury given the service numbers. "Polish Tim" (as some call him) qualified and almost beat Kohlschreiber here last year having squandered match points, and has qualified his last three ATP events now in 2012, also qualifying in San Jose and Delray Beach and beating Melzer in Delray and nearly beating Muller in San Jose. Tim also beat Andreev 6-1 1-6 6-3 yesterday so he's definitely in good form and could pull a surprise in the MD.

As for Mikey, he's going to lose around 30 points from last year. Hope he can get to the top 100 in time for the French/Wimbledon cutoffs.

Tim is in great form... at delray beach he also was in good form and it took the electrifying and sublime skills of legend-to-be bernard tomic to stop him... obviously this didn't hurt tim's confidence any knowing that he simply lost to a superior player and qualified here very strongly...

Russell is my favorite player, but I feel like this is it for him. His chances of getting direct acceptance into a major this season are pretty slim, and I can't picture dropping down to Challengers full-time.

After Miami, Mikey doesn't defend a lot at all until the summer. He's around 100 points from making the MD of the French/Wimbledon, so if he can find a way to have 1-2 good events the next couple of months, he can get back into position for direct acceptance into slams. The problem is his form has been horrible and he hasn't been healthy.

I think Mike will hang on until it becomes not feasible. Whether we're reaching that point now depends on what he does these next few months until he starts dropping serious points.
