Djokovic benefited big time from what Federer was talking about with those comments in relation to grass. Just like Fed and Nadal benefited as well in different circumstances.

Lets be real...Nole would be a pretty average player on old school grass. Though most other players in this era are grass gimps as well so he'd still be making the SFs pretty easily.

well how do you really know that? I mean what do you guys want? Nole is not an average player. I'm not saying this as his fan. I know how much you love Tommy and it's cool but please... Djokovic has this ability to simply adopt to any circumstances ... . I might be naive but I still think that he would do just fine on fast grass.
and again, it's like Nole can't play on grass, he can't play on clay...blah. apparently he can play anywhere

I'm really not trying to be rude but honestly, this is one of the dumbest posts I've read all day. For starters, I fail to see the relevance of Tommy Haas to leng's post. What's the point of bringing that up? He's just saying he doesn't think Nole would be good on old school grass. How is that an invitation to bring Haas into the discussion?
Second, you must be deluded if you think that you're not saying whatever you said in your post as a Noletard. That's like me saying I'm not drooling over Fed's sexiness and hotness as a Fedtard. Get real. Any contention that Nole's versatile on all sorts of surfaces is disputable at best, and your post honestly smacks of blind tardism.

You are being naive at best, a tard at worst. Grass is easily Djokovic's worst surface, just like Federer's worst is clay, yet both have been successful due to the fact of one their abilities and two the factor that Federer has mentioned before.
Losing at Wimbledon to a guy who was past it and had grass phobio when he was better than him, but he isn't going to get tested as leng said.

man, I was just j/k with Leng knowing how much he loves Tommy.I like Leng's sense of humor and I have always simply appreciated him as a funny poster. pls don't judge me bud. I do like Nole but I don't think I'm a tard. suit yourself tho if it makes you happy.
to be honest with you I really wish they would bring 'the old grass' and we could see who does what

so, hypothetically if they speed up the courts, who would really benefit?

Maybe tennisfans would benefit, because they could watch different kinds of tennis

Really, Novak has gradually shaped his game in accordance with the realities of the game today. It's not that he is a born slow court player, it's maybe even the opposite. We don't know how he would play under different circumstances, but my guess is who would do well, he is quick, flexible and most importantly, he is very adaptable. If there is a player who definitely benefited from slow courts that's Nadal, Novak not so much. As for the old school grass, he would do the same.. adapt.
edit: and just for the record: I voted for "speed up the courts". Especially USO was horrible to watch.

says who? only you who said several times before that great players wouldn't be playing the same way in different eras under different conditions.....now you make a baseless claim that nadal and djokovic wouldn't make finals on slick grass.....

correct.....an average player on old grass because he lost one frigging match to safin just after losing a close final to peak nadal on the slick queen's grass.....

Re: "Speed up the courts" thread
Federer asked in interview yesterday :
Quote:
Q. Would you like there to be more tournaments on the tour with surfaces as quick as this?
ROGER FEDERER: Sure. I mean, I just think a variation, you know. Not all of them, but some of them. I just think it's good for the game. It allows a serve and volley player such as Llodra and other players to move forward. I think my next round opponents also like to come forward, like Mahut and Lopez.
It would maybe also then make, let's say myself and Murray and other players move forward, too. You know, if we knew that it's actually something we can play more often and more frequently on, you get the habit and more confidence as well moving forward.
Surfaces are 95% of the times rather slow. You just get in the habit of playing so well off the baseline that you just feel it's better to stay back than coming in actually.
Q. Do you players try to make your voice heard?
ROGER FEDERER: Well, there's not that many players, I don't think, who want it much faster. So there you go. We got what we want, the players, I guess. (Laughing.)
But we can have some influence with the tournament directors. Just talk to them. But they are, at the end of the day, the decision-makers and not us really.

Seriously, not sure why you guys keep bringing that one match up as some final verdict, like it means anything? One match is one match

Yeah great, he lost to Rafito who doesn't play tennis any differently on grass either. Irrefutable proof he would be a grass master.
In 2008 he was spanked by Safin. In 2009 he lost twice to a 30 year old Haas who was playing old school grass tennis on slow consistently bouncing "modern" grass. 2010 he played Hewitt and Lu before being comprehensively beaten by Berdych.
What part of Nole's game would be improved on old school grass? He doesn't have a great slice, his volleys are mediocre and his serve is not big enough. Does he prefer playing his groundies off low bouncing shots? No.
Federer clearly prefers the old grass because the low bounce is far better for his topspin backhand and the slice becomes a much more effective shot. Thats not even taking into account how much better the volleys would be. These days its a joke to try volleying unless its a put away shot. Volleys sit up after they bounce now rather than skid which is what they used to do. How do you think its possible for Nadal to hit those ridiculous passing shots? The bounce of the volley gives him the extra time to reach the ball and get under it to make the shots possible. Do you really think he could chase down a low skidding volley breaking away from him and produce those forehands on the run? No.

What the fuck are you talking about? Which part of what he said was hypocritical? He didn't say anything that he hasn't already said previously. You should have been permabanned.

What's with the emoticon in relation to Lu? More importantly, why do you even bother trying to engage this clown in any sort of meaningful discussion?
