OK sorry, I had that impression, and it was one of the points mentioned several times in the beginning of this thread :
personally I thought it was just normal that he lost, he was just there for the final match but the match was lost before

Re: Jose Acasuso announces retirement
Although retirement is for the weak - you must play until you are unable to move - until then use the power of your emotions, specifically anger to carry on, as Agassi once did.
As I was say although retirement is for the weak, that slap in the face look Acasuso wore on his face was filled with RAGE. I respect him for that and that only.

Santiago Ventura won Casablanca in 2004 being ranked 316 and coming from the Q on his first ATP tournament. Another one I remember is Yahiya Doumbia 1988 in Lyon being ranked 453.
I don't remember other cases right. One day I will rebuild my stats before my memory starts to fail .

Re: Jose Acasuso announces retirement
Also Altur and Lapentti but I didn't ask about title winners in debut, I asked about runners-up in debut, because I don't know who did it beside Chucho and don't want to bother to check it

Re: Jose Acasuso announces retirement
will we be seeing one of those great retirement/tribute threads for Jose? (and Gonzo in a bit)
EDIT: just seen voo's blog post. Do you still post those retirement threads in MTF voo? the ones which had the stats alongside 5-10 key career matches? I love those

No. I mention about retirements on my blog but it's a shorter version of farewell in comparison to threads on MTF.

Re: Jose Acasuso announces retirement
chuchooooooooo
Man what a shame we lose another guy with a big game. Shame he was always injured. The rare times he played, he had a lovely game on clay. Effortless hitting.
