Most winners in one match
I was wondering what was the record for the number of winners in one match.
Today (Wimbledon final 2009) Federer hit 107 of them, Roddick 71.
I'm interested both in the record for one player and for two players, if someone may give me some information.
Thanks

Re: Most winners in one match
Winners and unforced errors stats are not kept by ATP, so it's hard to know for sure

Re: Most winners in one match
what is a winner? some say if it bounces twice on the opponent's court, it's a winner. what if the opponent is close to the ball but couldn't hit it or missed? And do service winners count as winners (like if the serve is touched by the returner but is not successfully returned?

Re: Most winners in one match
The winner is the kind of shot that isn't touched by the opponent's racquet!
A service winner is either an ace or a serve which isn't returned... some tournaments do include service winners among winners and some does only count the winners!!

Re: Most winners in one match
For the reasons stated it is too difficult to count. Some Wimbledon matches in the past counted second serve return errors as winners for the server whilst RG was counting only aces of the serve as winners. That leaves such a huge space for discrepency that this stat can't really be explored to great effect.

Re: Most winners in one match
Forehands, Backhands + volleys should only be counting as winners and inforced errors

Re: Most winners in one match
Other than Wimbledon, winner count usually includes aces (but not "unreturnable serves"), right?

Re: Most winners in one match
At 59-59 Isner has 449 and Mahut 428. Totally 877 winners (included serves). Undoubtedly record.

Re: Most winners in one match
Those numbers are wrong, they had some kind of bug there.
Final count is Isner 246 winners, Mahut 244, but I'm pretty sure aces aren't counted there. Including aces, that would be Isner 358, Mahut 347.
Total points won: Isner 478, Mahut 502.

Re: Most winners in one match
Most winners except aces:
Can anyone confirm the record is 70 by Gasquet in Wimbly 2007 against Roddick ?
