Sao Paulo QF: Thomaz Bellucci def. Leonardo Mayer 3-6 6-2 7-5
Crowd was whistling during each Mayer serve, wildly celebrating every first serve missed, and shouting in the middle of points when Leo was about to hit. They clearly thought this was a football match between Brazil and Argentina. Umpire did nothing, Bellucci did nothing. In the end they succeeded in throwing Leo's concentration off at the end of the match.
Completely undeserved win by Bellucci.

Sao Paulo QF: Thomaz Bellucci def. Leonardo Mayer 3-6 6-2 7-5
Mayer felt the pressure of the crowd and was broken when he was serving for the match in 5-4 of the third set and Bellucci got the break.
Break Point for Mayer in 30-40 of 5-5 and Bellucci served well to save the break and Bellucci continued serving with quality to win the game.
In 6-5, incredibly Bellucci began to return as well and Mayer hard pressed succumbed and Bellucci won the match with 7-5 in the third set.

It was not the "pressure" of the crowd. If was the disgusting, unsportmanlike, un-tennislike, behavior of the crowd AND the umpire AND Bellucci who did nothing about it.
This match was stolen from Leo Mayer, plain and simple.

Crowds don't win matches. Sadly for Mayer he let it get to him.

Brazilians are disgusting animals when it comes to crowds and sports. Total disgrace watching that, especially at the end.

The delirious crowd singing that is very proud to be Brazilian.
After the match talked that without the crowd he will not win the match and he invited all to the semifinals against Volandri.

It's impossible to back Thomaz even in a situation like this where the crowd is entirely for him. I was a little surprised he pulled it together, but pleasantly so. Leo crumbled badly at the worst time possible.
Volandri vs Bellucci!

I wonder if this shit will be allowed against Volandri also, Mayer really deserved to win but this is pretty entertaining and maybe this win will set Bellucci back on track a little bit

Everyone likes a good atmposphere and players should cope, as long as the crowd is not interfering with actual play. In this match the crowd crossed all limits of decency. In the end it's the umpire's fault for not handling the situation better.
