Re: WWW Sydney final: Benneteau vs. Nieminen?
Maybe the final can be cancelled, they split the prize money and both get a loss

I've now checked that, singles' final is first.
Anyway, both Nieminen and Benneteau have bad final records and Nieminen has seemed to play nervously in finals. But what have Benneteau's finals been like? Has he lost them becouse the other was just better or has he been nervous in finals?

Re: WWW Sydney final: Benneteau vs. Nieminen?
Julien will likely win if Jarkko will continue serving as weak as today, just not getting enough "free" points to take title.

Unless he chokes badly when serving out the match, which is always a possibility, this should be Benneteau´s maiden title, me thinks

Recently lost in the final in my hometown of Winston-Salem. Was outplayed in 3 sets by Isner after winning the first. Was in tears afterward. He will be very motivated, for sure.

Re: WWW Sydney final: Benneteau vs. Nieminen?
Benneteau also lost to the frenchies Llodra (Marseille -they won the doubles together right after their singles final) and Simon in straights. Both opponents were in-form when he played them.

Not Nemo!
Seriously, their "bad" finals record is kinda misleading. They have had very tough opponents in their finals. In fact, this is probably the easiest final for both of them!

But can he handle the motivation the right way? If he's afraid of losing, then he's already lost. But if he just thinks about winning, at the best he dares to play as usually and he wants to fight for every point. But at the worst he may have too much motivation leading to stupid playing.
All I want is "may the best man win". Of course as a Finn, I'd hope Jarkko to win, now we can say he was lucky he won at least one title, his nerves don't hold. But if he won another, we could say he had bad luck in having so tough opponents in finals, he could've won more. But I'd hope no multiple finalist never winning a final, the same words I said about jarkko apply to Julien, too. So, whichever player wins, I'll be happy for him. And, I'll be a bit sad for the one who'll lose.

Re: WWW Sydney final: Benneteau vs. Nieminen?
I don't think it was nerved that did him in. Benneteau will be solid and should also have the energy, but the match is still a toss up.

Re: WWW Sydney final: Benneteau vs. Nieminen?
I like Niemo, but it's time Julien got that title. He's performed not only well, but efficiently, dispatching Marcos in straights, so he hopefully has energy left for the final.

Re: WWW Sydney final: Benneteau vs. Nieminen?
it's hard not to feel bad when looking at either players w/l record in finals... it probably really sucks for them, having been so close so many times. at least Jarko won some but poor Benneteau. this is his time to step it up! would be a shame if a player of his caliber ended a career with no titles
