Re: Richard In The Australian Summer 2012- Sydney
I can't make any target before seeing the draw really but 4th round would be nice...

sets in Roland Garros, so I hope not to win the first two sets this time. (Smiling.)
Maybe the sky will fall?

My thoughts exactly. I think it is a combination of being under pressure and hoping for the opponent to make errors when he plays a lower ranked guy.
One could see that he was tight from the start ( "A must win match"), he rarely discusses with umpires, today he did, more than once. He started passively, the first set was an outright disappointment. When he had understood that he would not get away with it, his level was better, but Istomin served well up to 5-4 in the 2nd set, on 2 or 3 of Richard's bps he came up with aces. The 12th game tells everything, two right out return winners to reach the breaker, in which he did 3 direct BH errors. Positive point: Overall he served well, but not on the breaker.
Istomin was too good, to beat him with an average performance. But still I feel he was beaten by his own attitude, too passive at the start and too much agitation throughout.

Re: Richard In The Australian Summer 2012- Sydney
But he served pretty good today and he needs to cut down those errors particularly from the backhand.....Be aggressive from the start.....

Re: Richard In The Australian Summer 2012- Sydney
good job Richie your goal of staying injury free is still safe
I advocate that you tank the AO to stay fresh for the Indoors European season.

Re: Richard In The Australian Summer 2012- Sydney
Interesting that Del Potro lost by the same scoreline. I wonder if Richard's head was in Sydney or halfway to Melbourne already. Hope the draw is a good one for Richard, and his fans of course

Re: Richard In The Australian Summer 2012- Sydney
I only stayed up because I wanted to watch Li vs Kvitova which was straight after. If not for that match, I wouldn't have bothered with his

You can't fool me. You are too experienced not to have a rough estimate how long matches last to calculate when you have to get up. You were here at 3.17. No way, that the Li-match would have started by then.

But I usually sleep at 2 am so I thought there was no point just going to bed for 2 hours plus
