From 2001 USO. The first full tennis match I watched is one of the most memorable ones I have ever witnessed. Sampras-Agassi USO QF

I vaguely remember Agassi playing roland garros in the early nineties. Also saw the Sampras Courier final at wimbledon.
I became a real tennis fan in the late nineties, I think RG 1997 was the first GS I really followed. In 2005 I started watching nog GS tournies.

My dad got me interested in tennis as a boy by teaching me how to play, and telling me stories about his favorite players. During his time, he played tennis with some top amateur players in Europe and the US, though I don't remember now who they were. Though he was an excellent player, he unfortunately had too fiery a temperament to be a good teacher on the court.
I believe I watched my first tennis match on TV just after the start of the Open Era, probably in '69. I remember us being excited about the moon landing and Rod Laver winning the Grand Slam.
My viewing interest increased in the 70's as the competition did, watching and studying the games of John Newcombe, Stan Smith, Ilie Nastase, Arthur Ashe, Jimmy Connors, Bjorn Borg, Vilas, etc. I started watching women's tennis when Chris Evert came along, but I have to admit I admired more than just her tennis...

I started watching in the 2000's. My first favorite player was Roger Federer. I now like Nadal, Ferrer and Ferrero in addition to Federer.

I started watching properly from 2003 but I had seen some Wimbledon matches on TV from the end of the 90s. Missed Rogie's win over Sampras, unfortunately.

The very first tennis match I watched was the 1999 Wimbledon first round battle of Boris Becker vs. Miles MacLagan. I recall Mr. Becker fighting back from 2 sets to love to win the match. It was his last hurrah, as I recall. Great battle!
