No way RF becomes #1 again.
Yes, he can still win a slam but not #1 ranking.

I think he can. It depend on whether Nadal and Novak can recover their peak form by the beginning of next year. It was obvious in London they were far from their best while Roger seemed in top form. The younger guys are more worn out then he is, at least for the moment. Novak is gonna be very hardpressed to defend his points and Nadal just doesn't look like he can move like he used to.

These statements are incompatible. If he wins a slam this year he could be hovering around 10000 ranking points. That would likely be within striking distance of #1, depending on what Nadal and Djokovic do.
I think Federer's focus on the Olympics in London makes it a bit less likely though.

It's possible, if Roger wins one major and the other three are split between Novak and Rafa, that would still keep Roger at #3.

Yes of course winning a slam doesn't guarantee #1 ranking.
But it's incompatible to say "NO WAY" does he get the #1 ranking and "IT'S POSSIBLE" he wins a slam. If one is possible then they both are.

Federer will CRUSH the opposition next year and win two slams.

The problem is that even if Federer wins a slam or two, the most probable is that Novak and rafa will at least make semis or final, so the difference in points won't be that big. Only chance for Federer is if Nole is injured for most part of the reason which I highly doubt.
If anything Novak will be even more fired up to defend his ranking and slams. He said so in a recent interview with her childhood coach, Jelena Gencic.
Jelena said that when she saw the way he got the Wimbledon trophy that he would not gave up on that trophy easy. And Novak said..."we worked so hard to get here, I'm not giving up soon". Good sign.

Thats right there. Federer's chances depends a lot upon Djokovic and Nadal.
But Djokovic hasnt been in this position ever, to defend a lot of Tournaments. Has he? How good can he be while defending them. After all saying is one thing and doing is another. Its gonna be interesting.

What happened is that he had 2-0 lead and two matchpoints.
If you can look at a match where someone has two matchpoints on his own serve, and still say 'no chance, look what happened' - then hats off to you.
Suer, it was only SF and he would've probably lost to THAT Nadal - but still, nothing suggests that it is something 'impossible'. Just not very likely.

I'm not saying that it's impossible for him to win more slams (actually in other threads I have stated that he will win at least one or two), but I think it's impossible for him to regain number 1.

With Djokovic and Nadal already on the verge of Burning out, there is every chance Federer can do it. He has the talent,he has the drive and he is in good form. So why not

On the verge of burning out?
A bit overreacting, aren't you?
Just because they were tired and out of form at the end of the season for a couple of tournaments doesn't mean they have burn out for the whole new season. That's ridiculous.
