Re: Luke Saville Cheering Thread
He's not that young anymore. Should start playing futures and quit juniors as soon as possible. Playing other 16-17-18 year olds will not make him a better player. Look at Tomic: only a year older and already top 50.

You have already made your point. All players are different. Luke has played 14 senior tournaments this year compared to 13 ITF junior tournaments. Yes it might be better for his development to play senior tournaments but at the same time you do not want him to lose confidence in his game and lose motivation. He has not been playing well of late and the number one ranking is probably something he would like to get as well because it is within reach. Normally I would agree with playing more seniors but in this case I can understand why he is playing in Osaka.

There are other considerations: potential sponsorship, management deals, current sponsors, confidence, strength (body type)compared to peers/opponents, potential for injury.
A lot of the top players played ITF Juniors - Federer, Roddick, Monfils, etc. - the list is extensive, whilst a few very talented/gifted/stronger player have managed to short-circuit the system and gone straight to the top at a young age (Djokovic, Murray, Nadal, Tomic, etc.).
When the time is right Saville can step up. My opinion is that Saville is not ready for the stronger senior game yet. He should play a high level mix next year - only the Slams in the Juniors (whilst his ranking allows) and a limited number of senior tournaments.

Re: Luke Saville Cheering Thread
Luke wins his first round in Traralgon 6-4 6-4. He will now at the very least finish the year with a ranking. A positive for Luke considering he can now actually enter senior tournament entry lists. He will finish top 10 in the juniors this year which will mean junior exception into 3 mens futures tournaments next year of his choice. Obviously you would like to see him start the year domestically through the ATPs, AO, challengers then future and then head over to europe most likely. By that time he may have a ranking high enough to get into tournaments but it is nice to know he has a form of safety net next year just in case.
I would also think Tennis Australia should strongly advise Luke to only enter junior Grand Slams next year and the rest of his tournaments be futures/challengers. Although he will probably begin next year as the number 1 junior in the world which I guess could make things completely different.

Agree about Fucsovics. Unfortunately he won't be a top player. He is partying and drinking a lot, hungarian news were full of his weird lifestyle. Let's hope Saville is smart.

Re: Luke Saville Cheering Thread
His ranking is around 1500 at the moment which isn't very good, after a relatively succesfull 2012 he should set goals like top 400-300.

Re: Luke Saville Cheering Thread
Dont really give him much of a chance against the number 3 seed.
