He just tells, that he trained with him and that he came up with that name. He unfortunately doesn't say anything about why he came up with that nickname...

Re: Post US Open Season 2011
I see Grigor and McNamara have parted company. Can't say I'm surprised and I was expecting this when I heard he brought his dad in to help with the coaching.

What? Did I understand that correctly? McNamara is not Grigors coach any more?

Yes. Apparanately the Mouratoglu academy decided that Grigor needs another coach. In the interviews in Bulgaria Grigor said that he will not change his coach, so this is not his decision We will see I hope it's for the best, because I liked McNamara

I think he brought his dad as a dad, not so much as a coach. Grigor needs his father to help him stabilise his mentality. I don't think it was his deceision, he said in interviews he is not planning to change the coach and seemed quite confident. The Mouratoglu accademy made the change.
I am a bit dissapointed, cause I don't think it was Peter's fault for all these ups and down this season. Besides I liked PMac a lot...
I hope they will find a better coach for him.

Re: Post US Open Season 2011
i dont know what to think about this really..peter is the one who helped get him to where he is today and they werent even together that long so i dont know why they made this change already.
i think, given a little more time he could have helped grigor find some consistency
is grigor the kind of person that can do well without a coach?

Re: Post US Open Season 2011
Not sure what to make of this coaching change, especially given that Grigor seemed to be satisfied with how things were going coaching wise. Anyone know if McNamara wanted a change? Since when is it up to the academy to make this decision? Hopefully he'll get a new coach that will emphasize fitness, foot work, and court movement.

Re: Post US Open Season 2011
I like McNamara a lot too and I believe he's good for Grigor. However, he seems 'too nice' sometimes. Grigor could use someone to toughen him up.

Re: Post US Open Season 2011
Sometimes the coach that gets a player to #50 in the world isn't necessarily the one to get them to the top. McNamara did a great job but I think Grigor needed a new coach to really develop his talent to the fullest.
