Re: James Duckworth Cheering Thread
James got the win in the first round 5-7 7-6(4) Ret. Hopefully he can keep this going as he has another unseeded Romanian in the next round. I'd like to see another deep run from him but I can't help but think he would be very tired but now and I'd expect him to lose one of his upcoming matches.

James pulled out of next weeks futures tournmentp in Romania. Smart decison doesnt want to play every week.

Re: James Duckworth Cheering Thread
Ducky goes down 7-6(9) 6-2 in the second round. Looks like he really fought for that first set but ran out of gas in the second. Don't be surprised if James enters the qualifying of the challenger in Como, Italy tomorrow, as he stated in a tennis australia video he will be playing a mix of challengers and futures until September.

Re: James Duckworth Cheering Thread
Anyone know where James is playing next? Would of thought he would have played a challenger event this week.

Retired? Or was that mean to be 6-4. Come on James. Really good chance in the main draw there is some good spots for qaulfiers just as long as he doesnt draw Gil.

The match actually isn't over, it got suspended. He is first up on court in about two hours from now. An MTF poster who was present at the match stated he thought James played like a robot and just played in a predictable manner. It seems to work for now so not really much to worry about but you like to hope that sometime in the next year James develops a big weapon on court.
He stands at 6ft tall so he is never going to have the biggest serve on tour so perhaps he should be working on power in the ground strokes and maybe focusing on one in particular. James has direct entry into a challenger in Colombia next week and might make the cut of another challenger in South America the week after. Depending on how he goes will probably determine whether or not he attempts to play any of the remaining Aussie futures for the year. Expect to see Ducky get a wildcard into Sydney ATP and if he is really lucky into the AO main draw.

Re: James Duckworth Cheering Thread
He hit 13 aces in the second round of quallies. So his serve wont be that bad.

Re: James Duckworth Cheering Thread
James won that match against Trungelliti 75 46 63, so is in the main draw. I think he plays German Andre Begemann. Will be an interesting match for Duckie.

Re: James Duckworth Cheering Thread
Yes he plays like a robot, but it means he also has a good mind and is ready to win many 3-setters. I mean, he is a disciplined player and looks very serious.

Re: James Duckworth Cheering Thread
His first round match got suspended again but he was up 4-1 against Begemann when they stopped. It would be a big win for Ducky as Begemann made the semis of a challenger last week. Hopefully this is the start of lots of success on the challenger tour for James.

Re: James Duckworth Cheering Thread
Go Duckworth. I heard James was at the same school as Greg Jones (SHORE in N.Sydney). Amazing that two top ten Aussie players, in the same era, were at the same school,

That is actually not as uncommon as you would think. Both Bernard Tomic and Ben Mitchell attended TSS (The Southport School) on the Gold Coast and were actually in the same class! Now both are top 10 Aussie players. I think it is a case of success breeds success. In saying that though I do believe the Brisbane GPS sport system (TSS is a part of GPS) is a gold mine for any sport that is willing to invest money into it (see NRL as reference).
