Re: College Tennis: General Talk & News- 2011 Pre-season Talk/Make your predictions
Looks like South Carolina is going to suck this year.(expected since they lost their 3 Brazilian stars). They lost to Elon 5-2 and beat Wofford 6-1 with much closer scorelines than how badly Clemson beat Wofford.

It looks like South Carolina will suck this year.(Expected after losing their 3 Brazilian stars). They beat Wofford 6-1 with a lot closer scorelines than the blowout Clemson put on the Terriers. Then they lost to Elon 5-2.

Re: College Tennis: General Talk & News- 2011 Pre-season Talk/Make your predictions
Elon is a very good team out of the southern conference. Of course for South Carolina it's a horrible loss. But I think Elon will win the southern conference and be very competitive in the NCAA tourney.
Speaking of this mid-major team, it was sort of expected this year that big time talent would be present in the top 5 and really nowhere else. But I think this year will be fairly balanced. Obviously UVA, USC, and Tennessee (maybe Ohio State) will be the frontrunners competing for the national title (although I think Texas and UCLA may stage huge upsets in May), but the mid-major teams have done a remarkable job recruiting. Also, teams like Kentucky/Wake Forest and other teams in that #10-#25 range have gotten one or two very talented recruits to play this year, which goes along with their very rigourous schedule, which will make this season very exciting.
Before the season starts, I'd just like to say watch out for the Univeristy of Kentucky Wildcats (ranked #12), the Texas Longhorns (solely depending on the vast improvement of their starting lineup over the summer/fall) and the UCLA Bruins IN MAY, AND the mid-majors!
Also, a lot of teams really have extreme schedules vs. top schedules. I've looked up a few teams schedules' such as Kentucky's and it's loaded, but it's also not too indifferent from other top 25 teams' schedules. Should be one of the best years in college tennis, imo.

Clemson eeked out a 4-3 win over Davidson Saturday. Wes Moran won at #5 2-6 7-6 7-5 to avoid what would have been a disastrous defeat for Clemson.

Florida def Baylor 5-2 in a big match.
Virginia begins their season with two extremely impressive wins. 7-0 over Illinois and 9-1 over Notre Dame

Big win for the Gators. I thought Baylor was a little overrated going into this season but we will see what happens.
Jeff let's try to put the reg. season results in the reg. season thread. We can use this thread as more of a discussion thing I guess

What's going on at Wake Scott? I hear that Coach Zinn has taken the job at Penn State and that Tripper transfered to Florida. Also Carleton ans Leslie may have left

Seriously, I could see leaving Wake for Penn State if it was football and Paterno ever retired. But, men's tennis? Must be more to this story.

Darklucia, looks like your Washington Huskies have a player in Emmett Egger. He beat Chris Kearney(UC Irvine top 30 player) in future qualies.
