Quebec Davis Cup Team?
Hey guys, whats your opinion if Quebec got its own Davis Cup team? Im not supporting seperation or anything like that but for discussions sake, how do you think they would do?
Imo, they would stay in Americas zone 2 year round. The team if it existed now, would consist of Erik Chojvka and Pierre Ludovic Duclos both playing singles and doubles. The team would essentially bank on those 2 guys for success of any sort in the Americas zone. If they played Canada or Brazil, Colombia, chances are they won't win at all. If they play teams like Ecuador, Peru, Mexico, at home, they have a competitive chance.
They wouldnt make World Group at all unless a really good generation of players popped up. Maybe earlys 2000s would have good chance (Lareau, Larose, Niemeyer, Robichaud). Of course, they can only host wherever host in Quebec, probably mostly in Montreal they would host.
any thoughts?
ya i was kinda bored when making this thread

alot of the best athletes canada has come from either ontario or quebec havent you noticed that? very rarely does someone from say manitoba or B.C go on to do great things in any sport
but since you asked, just to name a few for quebec:
figure skating
diving
tennis
skiing
freestyle skiing
speed skating
maybe 90% was a generous number, more like 80%

Yeah, if you include Ontario, then that is true. Ontario produces more athletes than any other province, that was why I was a bit shocked when you said Quebec.
I think in terms of provinces its:
Ontario
Quebec
BC
Alberta

Re: Quebec Davis Cup Team?
hypothetical scenario
Quebec vs Canada
held in Rimouski, Que - hard outdoors
1st rubber
Sebastien Lareau vs. Bobby Kokavec
2nd rubber
Simon Larose v. Daniel Nestor
Doubles rubberSebastien Lareau/Joceclyn Robichaud v. Bobby Kokavec/Daniel Nestor
that early 2000s team would easily compete with earlys 2000s Canada team or any other team.
example
Quebec vs Mexico
held in Quebec City, hard outdoors
1st rubber
Erik Chovjka vs Daniel Garza
2nd rubber
Pierre Ludovic-Duclos vs Santiago Gonzalez
Doubles rubber
Erik Chovjvka/Pierre Ludovic-Duclos vs Gonzalez/Echagary
a 2011 quebec team would get beaten easily by this years Canadas team for sure.
