Re: Richard's Time In The Heat- Summer Season 2011
His scheduling is the best thing about his game right now actually. Oh well glad I didnt watch not in mood to watch Richard lose.

Re: Richard's Time In The Heat- Summer Season 2011
It was disgusting. He should have played two tie-breaks. Even if he would have lost 7/6 7/6, I wouldn't have been disappointed.
But these two breaks are pure comedy. Zero mental toughness.

5 and 5 is not pummeled. BUt agree that he's not Top 10(and not just because of today).
Last game I don't think he even sat down on the change over, he was on the court in about 5 seconds.

I am pretty pessimistic on his chances of reaching the top 10 this year.....

4 winners in the first set, 18 in the second. During the first set, I was rather frustrated, there was no passion, I feared another ALmagro-match but I found the second set quite encouraging, it was worth watching.

Until 5-5.
Even with those winners, he still looked flat and not pumped up.
We're not going to see a "new Richard" - he is who he is and when he is feeling confident he plays the type of tennis (except the service returns) we all love him for. But even a short time off for injury or rest or an opponent who "owns" him can shatter that confidence in a millisecond - that's who he is and I've pretty much learned to deal with - still frustrating but not unexpected.

Re: Richard's Time In The Heat- Summer Season 2011
He was as good as Fish in this match even slightly dominant in rallies.
Good serve, good backhand, forehand not good but average.
He just shitted on his pant two times at 5/5. One time Ok but two times
I can't believe it, it's not like if he was totally dominated, he gave his match to Fish.

Would you prefer him to be dominated like last year? I'd be much more worried if I had seen this match again.

I think I am close to a player like Fish (Nr 7) but I have small adjustments to make to beat him: I am sometimes too hesitant, it is necessary to go for a little more than that, to be less conservative and to give a proof of more courage. He did take his chances.
Nothing wrong with that analysis. Just do it in New York!

Atleast he knows what to do to help himself go deeper in the US Open.

It's one thing to know what you should do. Quite another to actually apply it

True, but still better to be sharp in your analysis than stating that the opponent is a great player against whom nothing could be done.

That's true, but I won't be crossing my fingers for something more than that

Knowing how much he loves the U.S. wouldn't be surprised if he went back to Paris Bet he goes to South Florida to train with Seb at home for a few days before going to NYC.
Anyone see Richard wacthing the Simon-Ferrer match yesterday? Hope the Simon pusher strategy doesn't rub off on Richard. It works very well for the human backboard but don't get any ideas Richard. BUT it wouldn't hurt if a little of Ferrer's tenacity rubbed off on Richie.
Work hard this week Richie and we look forward to seeing more of that aggression you say you know you need to display on the court.
