Re: Davis Cup
Wow, what a disastrous day. I'm incredibly dissapointed in Vasek and Phil I can't believe we could seriously lose to a team of Campozano and Endara. Even away and on clay, that's pathetic.

Re: Davis Cup
It is very disappointing, but if it has to happen, I'm thinking this is not the worst tie to lose. It looks highly doubtful that Raonic would be back playing in time for World Group playoffs, and without him I don't see us being competitive. And if he is just venturing back onto the courts about that time, he doesn't need the pressure of the call to Davis Cup duties (and playing Davis Cup definitely wouldn't be a good reintroduction to competitive play).
Hopefully Bester and Pospisil will learn a few things from their experiences yesterday and put them to use in the future.

i dont know, i think were screwed
even if polansky wins to even at 2-2 i dont think endara is losing to philip
and peter winning his match isnt even a given at this point, thats the sad part

It's a long shot, but I can hope, can't I?

Re: Davis Cup
Yes, he is but I might bench Vasek for another reason.
Peter is the best claycourter of them all (when he is playing okay), and you think they might want to get him in.
If Bester = Pospisil and Camponzo > Endara
You want Bester/Pospisil playing Endara and Peter playing the Camponzo.
At least that is my opinion, but I am sure ML has another one, do you think he can call up Krainek to play 5th rubber if we get there? Would be good for Krainek's future..

Re: Davis Cup
Another reason for benching Pospisil is fatigue. He was clearly done after 3 sets yesterday - I just hope he is recovered enough to do the necessary in the dubs today. I can't imagine he will have anything left for tomorrow.

Quito has the lowest amount of gravity in the world. Makes breathing difficult.

They're not in Quito - they're in Guayaquil which is close to the coast.

Oh my bad, I just assumed they'd play it in Quito, they often do. Still, closer to the equator, g is still 9.79 instead of 9.81 in Canada, which does make a difference. Although less so than it would have in Quito.

My guess would be (a) he is not used to running around so much at the baseline, (b) he used up a lot of nervous energy that contributed to his sense of physical exhaustion, and (c) maybe he isn't as fit as he needs to be for 5-setters.
