Default Severe Censorship

To be honest, its getting disgusting how many posts of mine are deleted on GM with just no reason or explanation, I think they even deleted a thread I opened about commentators hype About 25% of my posts in GM are being deleted. I even got a post deleted for giving information on Del Potro smoking pot in the past, which actually is a real piece of information!!
Every post suggesting a fix is deleted, even the Chela vs Schwank thread was completely deleted ( I think), and the most ridiculous thing is that I got an infraction just for posting screens of how the odds fluctuated during the match!!!!!!!!!!! Even if you talk about tanking the posts are deleted.
So are we not supposed to give our opinion about outcomes of matches? Should we just say good win Edu, when the match was actually fixed? Should we not mention this so people confuse and think it was a clean match? Shouldnt we at least provide information for everyone to decide by themselves if it was a fix or not? Posting print screens of how the odds moved during the different parts of the match I think its more than useful.
Also I would like moderators to explain to users why they delete everyone of the posts they delete, its easy to just click a button, but you can never back this up.
This is getting really horrible and boring, it seems you want us all to post like robots.

I often saw mods/admins insulting players, calling them nicknames, fixers and tankers, even attacking other user, who controls them? Who deletes your posts with no reason?

Kind Regards,
Master.

I completely agree with the above statements for ExcalliburII. Everybody including my grandmother(and she does not watch tennis) saw that Chela-Schwank fixed the match, not to mention all the gamblers who were following the odds during the match, just plain sick, there are many forum members here who actually like to discuss such things. Why delete such threads???

I see it is welcomed and of high priority that amazing posters representing the nadull/fed/faker/mugray brigade get their chance of bashing each other from dusk till dawn in the match threads, and in every single other thread in GM, but when someone actually speaks about something important and interesting it gets deleted in a second. Has MTF become a forum ruled as a dictatorship or am i missing something?

The current status quo, with the legendary posters whose sole interest is to get rid of some real life anger bashing each other in GM, is what everybody is looking for, then i can only say: ''may the force be with MTF''

Default Re: Severe Censorship

Nobody is being singled out - unless of course they post stuff that breaks rules more than most, in which case their posts will get deleted more.

As for the whole fixing thing - it's been said many times.

Accusations of match fixing are against the rules of the site. When there is proof or serious suspicion of odd activity, and if any allegations are proved, then they can be discussed. By this we mean as released by the tennis authorities.

However, unless the ATP says an allegation is proved, calling a player a fixer will not be allowed. Posting and discussing odd betting patterns doesn't constitute proof. Saying player X has fixed in the past therefore they're fixing now doesn't constitute proof. Observing that a match seemed to be going one way and then suddenly went another, for no reason, or because of injury timeouts, or illness, or whatever, doesn't constitute proof. The only thing that constitutes proof is the authorities saying "player X fixed" or "this match was fixed".

Personally, I suspect there is an element of match fixing going on in tennis, but probably much less often than the paranoids among us like to believe - many of whom call fixed cos they've lost a bet they think they should have won. We're not letting a situation develop here where match after match is labelled fix and player after player labelled fixers by one losing gambler or another, which is precisely what would happen, and is what people around here still try to make happen in spite of the rules. No way. If you have suspicions, keep them to yourself or discuss them somewhere else.

i think that the reason why they delete the fixing related post is because they are told to do so from higher instances

still I don't get why the delete posts for no apparent reason. They can at least give an explanation for that

You only speak about the fixing? What about all the other things I mentioned? My posts constantly keep being deleted with no reason or explanation, they just disappear... I would like mods to send an explanation every time they decide to delete a post.

Anyway, I dont see why such sick rules, its always healthier to discuss a match from the different possible points of views. Most users here dont follow betting patterns or betting odds during the match so there is no way the "normal" tennis follower would know something strange happened.

If I didnt follow I would like people telling me that there was a suspicious odds movement rather than believing the player lost a normal match.

I got an infraction just for posting printscreens, did I accuse him of fixer by doing that or was I just showing the odd movement? Tell me why do I deserve an infraction for just showing printscreens and saying nothing? Beyond ridiculous.

I just posted 5 or 6 screens like this:

Then everyone can take their own conclusions on what happened.

Keep in mind I am not only complaining about the fixing stuff, but also about post deleting in general, and I know this is happening to many users right now.

Posts are deleting for many reasons - because they're dragging a thread off topic, because the content is inflammatory, stirring, attacking...

Your thread on commentators hyping players was merged into the general thread about commentary.

We don't have time to send personal responses and then engage in dialogue for every single post edit, deletion, thread removal, thread merging - it would be nice if we did but we're kept busy enough as it is. People who have specific queries are always free to send a PM to the mods if they want an explanation. Sometimes mistakes are made but there is nearly always a valid reason for the action taken (in terms of forum rules - but then so many of the members don't view the rules as being valid, or at least not for them).

In terms of the fixing stuff, I will initiate a discussion with the mods as to what's acceptable - personally I have no issue with posting screenshots of betting patterns and letting people draw their own conclusions but other might not agree.

I think a no holds barred section for the forum is a GREAT idea. It can be for members who just want to let off steam/bitch etc chill you name it. Threads can be about anything from general issues/posters/life/tennis etc. It will generate a ton of activity, flush out gm, and make mtf an enjoyable place. It has worked on other forums why not here?.

Only rule is no porn.

Create a new section called 'time out' and make it members only (only members can see it) with a password needed (ask mod for access).

think about it Scoobs.

I also don't like when gamblers who lose bets spam the GM calling players fixers, and I'm glad if this is deleted and doesn't hurt my eyes, but I must agree with you guys, with posting proofs (it's not really that many matches I am sure of being rigged myself.... 5 a year maybe?) people at least should be able to state an opinion for themselves. Some may not recognize it and believe tennis is clear, some may give it a second thought and change views on particular players.
As we all remember the Davydenko-MVA case, it was blatant and transparent, yet ATP swept it under the rug, like they did with Agassi's drugs in the past and surely other things.
I think it's a sad state of affairs we must stay silent only because ATP wants to fake a cristal clear conscience in front of all the tennis fans. I know it's not a mod disposal since there in theory is a lawsuit danger for the site owners, but let's get real, it won't happen (have you read Betfair's forum? They claim every match is a fix) so maybe loosening up rules on that could be a good idea .

Well it's like 95% acusations about fixing coming from sore gamblers who lost bets etc. and are really just spamming. I'd rather have those 5% possible fixes deleted than all 100% left untouched. Apart from that it's not really the mods' task to evaluate what's founded and what's not. Anyway, what's the point of accusing a player of fixing on an internet board, will have no impact at all. File a complaint to the ATP. (probably won't make a difference either judging from previous decisions, but who knows, if the same names appear on a regular basis)

a tad schizophrenic Pros (unless they have masochist tendencies) won't frequent these boards anyway and I'm sure the ATP doesn't give a flying donut either.

Yeah my thread was deleted and I got no explanation about it even if I sent a PM to one of the mods.

Moderation in this forum is in a ghastly shape and we have no-one to help.

Please - not held accountable to whom? We get asked questions, we answer them. I could just tell you to shut up and go away, like it or lump it, deal with it. Instead, I'm sat here spending my time trying to explain decisions. It's not my fault or my problem if you don't like what you're hearing.

You only answered me after I complained here publicly.

I don't get this whole attitude. Neither Pablo nor me are being offensive or aggressive in any way towards you or any other mods. Why the need to put up this attitude as if you were doing a favour to us? Part of being a moderator in any sphere is showing a uniformity of action and accountability towards the moderated. Power comes from respect, not from random displays of power. If we, moderated, are treated like anything can happen at any given day, how can any respect be demanded? Fear is not respect, remember that. Posters are banned because of PERSONAL grievances. Others are banned because of public pressure. This is worse than lynching.

In the end, who moderates the moderators? There's nobody over you moderators we can refer to in the case of arbitrariness.
