yeah, he won!! 2nd set is pretty hard, but Nole wake up in time!!!, Next is Gulbis, that will be a tough match

By the time I managed to get inside Stadium 1, it's 5-0 for Nole and when I finally settled down in the very excellent seat owned by star, Nole won first set 6-0.

Since Nole is not used to bagel his opponent, he lost his focus at the beginning of second set and errors here and there while Golubev was very embarrassed and started to play tennis. After a few games, Nole knew he needed to heat it up so his grunt got louder

Anyway, most of you watched this match on stream or TV so there's really not much to report.

I did spent sometime in court 4 before Nole's match to scout his opponent. Gulbis vs Lu. This is one crazy match and both players managed to lose focus for no obvious reason.

I was there half way thru the first set. Lu was solid and Gulbis was UE machine especially in TB where Lu won. More or less the same at the beginning of 2nd set. At 2-2 30-0 Lu, Gulbis for no special reason, broke his racquet and got a warning. Both players did not do anything on return until 3-4 Gulbis serve. He was 15-30, served a DF and then Lu's return clipped the baseline. I thought that's it for Gulbis because Lu had been solid the whole match. It seemed that Lu did not expect to win vs Gulbis and just horror after horror while serving for the match and was broken at love, twice. After 12 consecutive points by Gulbis, he was to serve for the set at 6-5 and guess what, Ernie lost his service game at love.

It's a really, really bad and even I lost focus at the match. Another error fest TB and Ernie managed to win it. I left as Nole's match was about to start.

Anyway, unless Ernie improves tremendously in 2 days, it will be another match like tonight's.

I would be interested to hear about the match because I didn't see it.

Nadal's doubles went almost until 11:30. I got home after midnight and now it is even later. I think I will take it easy tomorrow. Let me know what your tickets are like tomorrow. I'm not going to use my evening ticket if you plan to stay -- well even if you don't plan to stay, I don't plan to use it.

I have ground passes for the next 2 days. I much preferred outside courts for Monday's line up. I will not stay tomorrow night either. Once Nole's doubles match and/or Simon's singles match are done, I will be gone. And for Tuesday, I keep my fingers crossed that Nole's match will be early

as I have to drive home in the afternoon.

There was really nothing exciting about Nole's match tonight. You did not miss a thing. Nole was on autopilot except the first 2 games in second set. And the last game where Nole broke for the match, it's like Golubev missed his first serve and Nole played his defense which ended up UEs from Golubev. One little thing was Nole shook his head like a wet dog after a forced error. I don't think the TV camera caught him. I saw him only because he was on the side of the court where your seat is.

Again, thanks for the seat. Much better than the Loge seat I could buy.

Many went to grab something to eat and by the time they were done, Nole bagelled Golubev in first set and lots of them don't bother to return. Also, many preferred to watch American Fish in court 2

It's Sunday evening after all and more interesting matches are going on outside of the stadium, so I understand it, as I said.
