Re: Getting to know: Santiago Giraldo
Ferrer was too good today...Few chance for Santi..
His breaking back in the 2nd set seemed encouraging, though he was broken again at 11th game.(mentally weak... )
Anyway, a good run in Auckland. Reaching his first SEMI in ATP 250 is a big breakthrugh!
Hope this year he can do well and keep improving his ranking.

Re: Getting to know: Santiago Giraldo
I am so glad Santi won over Mechado, even though he lost a set..
Have no idea who he'll play in his next match, but vamos anyway!

Re: Getting to know: Santiago Giraldo
Must-win against MacHado, will be tough against Cilic, but not impossible.

Re: Getting to know: Santiago Giraldo
Pity that Santi didn't take the 2nd set...Cilic was just too solid for him though.
Hope he can do well in the SA clay tournaments

Re: Getting to know: Santiago Giraldo
Santi...
A pity that he couldn't seal the match at 5-3 when serving for the match and finally choked the vitory away Not the first time that he lost like that...He should learn to overcome the pressure to become a higher-level player.
But, on the bright side, his fighting back from being down a set and a break should be given credit to becauce I really thoght he was done at that moment. Also, now he reaches his career-high ranking at No.47!!!Congrats!!!
Anyway, a good run in this tournament so hope he can learn something from this experience and keep his form and then do well the rest of the season!

Re: Getting to know: Santiago Giraldo
I think I'm starting to like Santi. I find myself cheering him, I first saw him in Auckland. Love his game. And he's pretty hot, too.
He seems like a bit of a headcase sometimes but I can forgive him.

Re: Getting to know: Santiago Giraldo
Santi...the missed chances to serve out the 1st and 2nd sets
He seemed to struggle with his serve throughout the week in Acapulco?
I don't think Almagro played very well today, but Santi just could find the way to lose
There was a hilarious/dangerous moment in this match: it was when Almagro returned the ball out at Santi's service game, he felt angry with himself and hit the ball hardly towards Santi's direction. At that moment, Santi was just trying to point out the mark of the ball and was almost hit by Almagro's shot Fortunately, Santi dodged very quickly to avoid being hit, and Almagro apologized to him right away. Then Santi got broken in that service game though.
Hope he can do well in Davis Cup next week!

Re: Getting to know: Santiago Giraldo
I can't believe he choked again! I think this is his main problem.. choking matches away. It certainly isn't the first time it has happened. It happened against Robredo too!

Re: Getting to know: Santiago Giraldo
Santiago seems to be a very nice guy and down to earth. He has a good behaviour on court from what i have seen of him.
I will start to follow his results from now on and hope he does well. He has a big potential and if all parts of his game strings together he can be a really good player , top 20 potential
Vamos!
