Re: Week 45: Knoxville TN, USA [Entry List]
Wow. This is the lowest of the low for Don. Witten has been awful. There are absolutely no words to describe how big of a fail this is, and my disappointment in him. Looks like AO MD is going to be a pipe dream.

Sweeting losing to Yani with the form Michael has been in is as bad as it gets. I don't know what has happened to Ryan, but he just doesn't have it. At this point, I don't think that he can be seen as a bright prospect anymore and the USTA should seriously consider supporting other players. He's just not getting the job done.
Bobby is still playing well, not a surprising win from him whatsoever over Tim.
Kendrick, with the form he's been in, should definitely make at least the SF. The draw is very open for him.

yes very strange that peter choose playing indoor over clay, it seems that he is been not happy to travel to Ecuador

well I figured it would've been along shot anyways with his recent results. Nothing wrong with Qualifying anyways just has to hope he gets a good draw.

it seems that indoor courts are too fast for american hopes like a young or sweeting every year they had poor results on it but old fishs like a kendrick still doing good

True, but he definitely should be ashamed of himself really. He should be embarrassed. Especially since he dominated the first set, that shows me that he obviously has lost the ability to actually win matches. He can't cross the finish line, and as we saw in the third set, he had his chances, and then crumbled. His mental game seems to have reverted right back to the weakness it was, probably because of Matosevic, among a few other things. I just can't believe he's been struggling so badly at his favorite time of the year, every year he does great at this time.
He can still make the AO MD, but he needs to win next week, and then hope for a few withdrawals, and some guys to slip from their rankings. He seems to perform well generally in major Qs, but this end of the season run is definitely going to damage him for an extended period, and he has a lot to defend. Hopefully Kei or Robert win this event now.

Acually, Don and Ryan generally have pretty good performances this time of season. But it's different this season. Kendrick has always done well in US challengers, and usually Don and Ryan do well in them also. But I think the pressure of making the top 100 has gotten to both in a major way, as both are still very mentally immature.

Yeah I hope he wins but I just don't see it unless he gets a very favorable draw. He also has the USTA wildcard tourney in his hometown of Atlanta to get directly in so its not over even with a poor performance next week.

Well, he lost in the WC Playoffs last yr, and Harrison might be in it again this yr, as well as Levine, Sweeting, probably Sock, Kudla, maybe Domijan. There's no guarantee he'll win it.
To me this suggests a change needs to be made. I dont know why he & his parents are so adamant about them being his coach. Havent they considered that maybe they've taken him as far as they can??
Also, that's why I wanted to see him in the Helsinki Challenger, one last chance to earn pts. Wonder if he'll pull out of Champaign like last yr.

Re: Week 45: Knoxville TN, USA [Entry List]
Let's be honest. We all know Ryan H. will beat Don if they play. The ATL factor may be his saving grace. I hope he does make it automatically, but if he doesn't the AO playoff would be a nice alternative. He still should be able to beat the other youngsters and Tim, but Harrison is a cut above all of those guys.

Oh yes, he'll lose. Probably a 2nd round exit, there or there about. If he wins he'll be around 110, which is generally right where major events cut off. But quite frankly I don't care anymore, I just want to see him make the AO and go from there. However he makes it is fine with me. I'm actually more disappointed with Sweeting since I can't see any reason why he's been struggling, whereas Don has several.

Fast indoors is probably not his best surface, but he did play a guy who was essentially playing a home event in front of a home crowd, so he had a lot of motivation to do well. This week he has a very easy draw and should do major damage.

Agreed Sweeting has had plenty of chances but just couldn't capitalize including the Final he lost to Matosevic.
