I got that article about Laurent with my Montcourt news feed today, he talks a bit about how Mathieu's death has affected him badly during the whole summer (Mathieu was his best friend on the tour), but he also talks about other things. He's hoping hard to enter the top 100 in the next few months (he is ranked 125th this week, which is his personal best) because he will have less points to defend than the others. He says he played some great tennis again in Freudenstadt, he has recovered his level of Bordeaux when he beat Gaudio, he sounds particularly happy about his win over Flo Mayer there, he also had a MP in the final, he says those were two insane matches. His early loss in the qualies of the USO doesn't seem to bother him much, he wants to focus on the clay season to improve his ranking. He will play 3 weeks in South America and thinks/hopes he can enter the top 90 in November - or maybe even better:

Haillet says that Laurent will probably be first alternate at the Masters France (17-20.12), it would be great since he at least will probably be happy about the money and the experience.

I'm surprised that the first alternate is not the first player who doesn't enter the draw but it's a good option for Laurent.

I saw Laurent in Rotterdam already last year and still I never discovered this thread.
According to the R'dam thread on here, he'll play qualies again this year.

He had an SE in Istanbul Challenger last week. He lost to Adrian Ungur 64 64 in R1 (Ungur lost to eventual champion Adrian Mannarino in R2.) I didn't know what he looked like before I saw him play. He turn out to be a fine looking man. He was understandably upset after the loss. In his defense I must say the heat was "insupportable" the entire week. I had a hard time keeping my brain from evaporating. I hope he does well on tour.
