Nalbandian Argentina's hero again
For the second time this year David Nalbandian has clinched the decisive rubber in Argentina's campaign for its first Davis Cup by BNP Paribas trophy. Nalbandian overcame Russia's Mikhail Youzhny 76(5) 64 63 in the fifth rubber to put Argentina into the semifinals.

Youzhny double-faulted to bring up match point at 15-40 3-5, he managed to claw back one point but on the second a forehand long handed Nalbandian victory.

Nalbandian, who has struggled with injury since returning from hip surgery at the start of this year, set Argentina's course by winning the Friday's opening Rubber over Russian No. 1 Nikolay Davydenko. Russia clawed a point back when Youzhny brought Friday's play to a 1-1 conclusion by overcoming Leonardo Mayer. Argentina went ahead again after Saturday's doubles when Eduardo Schwank and Horacio Zeballos teamed up to beat Davydenko and Igor Kunitsyn. Davydenko levelled the tie in the first of Sunday's reverse singles by winning over Schwank in four sets, before Nalbandian ended the tie on a high.

Argentina had never beaten Russia in Russia in two previous meetings in Moscow.

Argentina will face France in September's semifinal in France.

More soon...

Beautiful stuff from Dave today. Maost amazing is how well he played with no match play for months.

Hope he stays healthy because David in this form can really do damage on the tour for the rest of the season. But know his priority is DC so I wouldn't be surprised the see him play a fairly light schedule to "save himself".

Nalbandian won

Translation from Spanish

David Nalbandian has everyone in his pocket. His performance last weekend in Moscow for the Davis Cup, at a time that fails to be an active player on the circuit, is a border that divides clearly what was and what will be. Nalbandian beat "playing badly" (sic) Nikolay Davydenko on Friday and Sunday Mikhail Youzhny crushed to yield seemed so overwhelming that had won two Masters 1000 followed. But it was not: Nalbandian came from absolute nothingness. Argentine tennis is an environment where everyone speaks evil of all and the good of all as the day and depending on who they are. Everything has overinterpretations and if one is weighted, others understand that detracts from someone else. The way David Nalbandian of Argentina contributed to advance to the semifinals of the Davis Cup has operated as a very broad area of overlap where it is highlighted, what appears as the dominant factor is the explosion in the court of an athlete that she set a goal short and not saved anything to fulfill it. Seldom microcosm of tennis in Argentina was much in agreement on something. Nalbandian is now the better PR than the Davis Cup can have on a time when players and sports executives to discuss seriously how to remove it from the environment in the medium term.

This participation by Nalbandian in the Davis Cup is for a special moment in his career. Since its operation in the hip and some injuries resulting from the nuisance, their presence in the circuit is casual. "I'm not analyzable for what I do in the circuit. I'll see if I can now play more and followed the Cordovan ...", she said in a speech at Rock & Pop, as he listened as carrying water for mate. When Cordova looks so relaxed in an interview is because all the dash lights show that there is harmony. Nalbandian was one of four wild cards to play from July 31 in Washington, a tournament where they will be Roddick, Berdych and Soderling. It will be his return to the tour from Montecarlo. A tear in training prevented him from returning to play in Madrid prior to Roland Garros. It was his third failed attempt in the season. A showdown with Rafael Nadal in Miami and another with Novak Djokovic in Monte Carlo were evidence of that to play with continuity in the high physical form has to be impeccable. The big question remains whether David Nalbandian able to sustain their good performances with the frequency required by the circuit.

Nalbandian had played just 13 games into the season until fuea Moscow to show their teeth Davydenko and Youzhny. One was the fifth point against Andreas Vinciguerra in Stockholm, a minor player compared to Nalbandian but it meant a bar high for those days Cordoba. Nalbandian was with his physical to limit and without hours of game on their backs. Remember the story?: Nalbandian flew to Sweden to join the team late and jumped onto the court to play doubles with Horacio Zeballos and then the final point. It was a series that all treaties were destroyed on planning teams and had a devastating blow to the Swedish team. Only days before, leaving the Copa Telmex Nalbandian in the quarter-final because of injury and Tito Vazquez automatically ruled out for the match against Sweden. Along the way, the Argentine captain, who lamented the absence of Nalbandian said that he, like Del Potro and Monaco were called "lifetime."

Nalbandian is now part of a team that did not originally contemplated. That is the truth even at this stage to project the semifinals against France for its absence is impossible to imagine. In this respect gave Nalbandian and gave Vazquez. Following the policy of irreparable damage left by the end of 2008, the new management of Tito Vazquez came with a mandate exemplary and eager to point out the guilty and innocent. Nalbandian did not seem to fit the new order and their presence to play against Holland in March 2009 lasted barely half later. Nalbandian was the Parque Roca with a flu-like and looked like the exit point of no return. Juan Martin Del Potro addition to the quarter-final against Czech Republic, another new team looked as consolidated. Argentina in the Davis Cup begins and ends each time. Build and broken according to the last result. All final claim as the last set winner.

David Nalbandian is now the centerpiece of the team Tito Vazquez speaks of an evolution. Nalbandian realized that Vazquez was not a player to despise or to stop making the effort to contain it with his charming speech which traces the history of the courts and that escapes the common places of play. Nalbandian also realized that a captain is to plan and develop a strategy and not bad to be part of it. Nalbandian himself admitted he was tempted to jump onto the field to play the double that won Zeballos and Schwank. Respect the road map was the wisest decision of the whole weekend.

David Nalbandian is a rare exponent of tennis. Its expression is in the Davis Cup when many top players with the dodge stealth and without the dignity. Nalbandian Davis knows that the individual can succeed, a readily measurable and media coverage in an area where the appetite for glory is the engine that sets it in motion. Nalbandian is amazed by all that and while doing so. Nalbandian, at age 28, still want to leave fingerprints on the court and it is possible to have new stories from its production. His essence does not change much and that's part of its success: where there is space to fill leadership, Nalbandian fits and exercises. This time with a sense quite sporty and without ulterior motives. Nalbandian takes this stage of his career with caution and calm. Back it cost so much and appreciates all that the court allows you to do.

David Nalbandian won. Davydenko beat to Youzhny and Russia. And he won the Argentine tennis world for once not accompany their successes in whispers so low and yields to a player who gets to be a tennis player "full-full" in the bounded space that offers the Davis Cup. The circuit routine is the next challenge of David Nalbandian. Upon which meditation is sure taking a few mates and reading newspapers this weekend.
