Re: Devin Britton
Britton's been losing all over the place.
If the USTA Futures are on clay, then what other choice do they have?? Change the surface??? Travel out of the country to play a Futures on hard?? WC him into a Challenger on hard when he's been struggling in Futures qualies???
He just needs to win more.

Re: Devin Britton
The hits keep on coming. He's out in the second round of Futures qualifying in Harlingen. Yikes. These are inexplicably bad results.

To another unranked player no less. Chris Kwon used to be a pretty good jr back in the day, but this is still a pretty bad loss, something is very wrong. Spencer Newman is coming thru qualies and Britton cant?? Cant blame this on the clay.
Edit: Just checked Kwon's record and he's been ranked in the 400s back in '05 and has a Futures title to his name. Still a bad loss, however.

Re: Devin Britton
Devins success at the NCAA's were a big surprise, he was good all season, but never bettern then 25 or 30 in the rankings and much more not in his playing/results. Then he wins such a tournament and decides to go PRO, but he is not that PRO he likes to be. Another year in Ole Miss would have helped a lot, with a lot of quality matches. He would have had 20 or more quality opponents there.

Well, he was coming off getting to the US Open jrs Finals, where he beat the #1 seed along the way, IIRC, wasnt it Tomic that he beat???
Then he gets to the Wimby jrs semis, plus the Roehampton semis also, I think. Maybe he felt going back to college would have been a step back.
He's won matches at the Futures level before turning pro, I'm sure he felt he would continue to win, and more frequently. Maybe he's having trouble with the pressure. He played Haas and Federer tough, plus close losses pretty much whenever he's competed in a tour event, MD or qualies, that has to be encouraging.

He did beat Tomic, though Tomic was actually the second seed behind Yang. He also beat Krajinovic before losing to Grigor Dimitrov in the final.
As for Roehampton, he won that without dropping a set I believe.

Britton lost 1st rd, AGAIN!!! The poor guy must have zero confidence right now. Cant see him getting a WC into the US Open with his results. I can see Kudla getting one however.

Re: Devin Britton
Can Britton go back to college? Don't see him making top 100 in the nearest 3 years.

Re: Devin Britton
He can't go back to college. He's turned professional already. Unless he hasn't taken the prize money and somehow kept his amateur status he's pro.
