With a tense title run in St Petersburg, Elletrista has all but secured a place in the YEC. Sambuca will also have a lot of confidence going into this week as Cancion Animal must gain over 200 points to overtake him. By staying ahead of Cancion, Sambuca will automatically qualify, ragardless of a shock mass run of all those below him.
the tension this week though is really in positions 13-17 where 83 points separate coreyschucky from Luke Lasko, who was pushed out of the qualifying spot by Labamba's 3rd place finish in St Petes. With 500 points up for grabs in Paris though, anyone from as far down as 42 could qualify with a surprise title run in Paris
* - these players have most likely already qualified for the YEC
^ - Both Sambuca (Wimbledon) and CancionAnimal (Roland Garros) are grand slam winners this year and so if neither finish in the top15, the higher ranked player will gain the automatic 16th place in the YEC as long as they are in the top 40 (ie. between 17-40).
Should one finish in the top 15 and the other between 17-40, both shall qualify for the YEC, the latter due to their grand slam title.
Re: PAW Race to Shanghai countdown update (furious struggle in St Petes!)
Wow, what a fight in St Peters,
Labamba, Frank Winkler, elletrista and Frooty - they are all fighting for the top 15 in Race,
and they are all top 6 in St Peters now :boxing: :clap2:
Re: PAW Race to Shanghai countdown update (furious struggle in St Petes!)
Yeh it looks like Hotzenpotz has pretty much got Lyon which means he/she wil have 1440 and will could qualify (probably instead of me ) if they finish top 6 in PAris
Re: PAW Race to Shanghai countdown update (furious struggle in St Petes!)
Contenders update!!!!
012 coreyschucky - after a poor St Pete tournament, coreys cushion over his competitors is all but gone. the pressure is on now in Paris
013 Frooty_Bazooty - A Qf finish in St Petes leaves the Irish former number 1 with a small points increase from last week. After seeing nemesis elletrista finally overtake him, the 2 time GS finalist most work hard in Paris to qualify for the YEC for the 3rd year in a row.
014 elletrista- With an amazing finish to the season in a title in Tokyo and a minimum guaranteed final finish in St Petes, elletrista has stormed into the YEC contention in the past month. She is now set to qualify bar a freak result in Paris
015 Frank Winkler - currently in the chaos of St Petes, frank steadily maintains his position and goes into the final week as one of the main contenders.
016 LukeLasko - After not keeping up with the other contenders in St Petes, Luke will have to rely on a good Paris showing to qualify
017 Labamba - Labamba currently lies 3rd in St Petes with a Tojo win tomoro giving him the title and a huge points boost!
018 invu2day - After a shocking decision not to play this week despite having the lowest 18th result in the top 30, invu2day may be rueing a missed chance to qualify automatically after this week.
^019 CancionAnimal - Cancions decision not to play this week may prove his downfall in the unlikely event of hallso slipping out of the top 15
020 bad gambler - After a decision to take a WC into Basel backfired, this V Bookie pro's chances aren't looking too good.
021 jrm - a poor showing in Basel means that the former top 3 player will have to look to Paris to add points to his tally.
022 Sheva - Despite a disapointing run in Basel, the dutch star till maintains a chance if he can pull out the works in Paris.
023 balloon - with a current fourth place in Lyon but with a much 18th result than Crocodile, balloon will see himself still with a chance to qualify but with a lot of work to do in Paris
024 Crocodile - currently 3rd in Lyon, these additional points will leave Crocodile with an outside chance as he goes into his national tournament.
025 Freeze17171 - After an uninspiring tournament in Lyon, only a final appearance will give Freeze17171 a chance to qualify
026 Hotzenplotz - After winning Lyon this week before the semis were even finished, Hotzenplotz will move within points on qualifying, needing a good reuslt in Paris to strenghten his claim.
I am playing Basel my friend! Not that i am doing well at all but i did play there...Don't think i'll reach the TMC but came into this game after a couple of tournaments and AO so hopefully i will gain some places next AO..
PAW scores after Day 2 added (picks, won, lost, points, average points, ranking position)
Ranking positions aren't exactly correct as ties haven't been respected.
I'll try and update the rankings everyday so we can have a day 2 day update of the race. Also the missing players are now added and they included hallso and jrm so they will probably gain some points.
Hotzenplotz- Sorry, i drew the cut off line in the wrong place because it should only go as far as 15 due to Cancion_Animal taking the Grand Slam Winner 16th place.
