Why do you think women live longer than men?

What is your hypothesis?

Is it as simple as some genetic DNA species type factor, lifestyle, or a combination of the two, or neither?

women don't have to hear their own complaining.... this is joke before you start reporting for misogyny.

men in general are more likely to undergo risky behaviour/ thrillseeking. there many other factors but this one of them that stand in young adults.

Why do men die first? This is a question that has gone unanswered for centuries, but, now we know. But it requires a bit of explanation.

If you put a woman on a pedestal and try to protect her from the rat race ... you're a male chauvinist. If you stay home and do the housework ... you're a pansy. If you work too hard ... there's never any time for her. If you don't work enough ... you're a good-for-nothing bum. If she has a boring repetitive job with low pay ... this is exploitation. If you have a boring repetitive job with low pay ... you should get off your lazy behind and find something better. If you get a promotion ahead of her ... that is favoritism. If she gets a job ahead of you ... it's equal opportunity.

If you mention how nice she looks ... it's sexual harassment. If you keep quiet ... it's male indifference. If you cry ... you're a wimp. If you don't ... you're an insensitive bastard. If you make a decision without consulting her ... you're a chauvinist.

If she makes a decision without consulting you, she's a liberated woman. If you ask her to do something she doesn't enjoy ... that's domination. If she asks you ... it's a favor. If you appreciate the female form and frilly underwear ... you're a pervert. If you don't ... you're gay.

If you like a woman to shave her legs and keep in shape ... you're sexist. If you don't ... you're unromantic. If you try to keep yourself in shape ... you're vain. If you don't ... you're a slob. If you buy her flowers ... you're after something. If you don't ... you're not thoughtful. If you're proud of your achievements ... you're full of yourself. If you don't ... you're not ambitious. If she has a headache ... she's tired. If you have a headache ... you don't love her anymore. If you want it too often ... you're oversexed. If you don't ... there must be someone else.

So: Why do men die first? Because they want to.
Poor guys.

This is an article from TIME about it:
Why do women live longer than men
There's different kinds of explanations in there but the conclusion of the article:

But, in general, there are maybe three things men do worse than women. They smoke a lot more. (That gender gap is fortunately shrinking, since men are smoking less and less.) They eat more food that leads to high cholesterol. And, perhaps related to that, men tend not to deal with their stress as well as women. They may be more prone to internalizing that stress rather than letting go — though that's a fairly controversial point. Nonetheless, stress plays a very important role in cardiovascular disease.

Another article, from The Telegraph:
Why women live longer than men

(part of the article: )
The reason why women tend to live longer than men could be because a crucial part of their cells has fewer harmful flaws than men, a new study suggests.

Researchers have found that faults in a part of the "engine rooms" of cells known as the mitochondria have a greater effect on men than women.

That's because of a quirk of evolution their make-up or DNA is inherited solely from the mother and so is only screened by natural selection for mutations harmful to women.

Any that are damaging to men but not women slip through the net and slowly over time undermine the health of male cells.

...
This means that evolution's quality control process, known as natural selection, only screens the quality of mitochondrial genes in mothers.

"If a mitochondrial mutation occurs that harms fathers, but has no effect on mothers, this mutation will slip through the gaze of natural selection, unnoticed.

"Over thousands of generations, many such mutations have accumulated that harm only males, while leaving females unscathed."

Co-researcher Dr David Clancy from the Faculty of Health and Medicine at Lancaster University said this is a major advance in biology.

“We show that Mother’s Curse is much broader in its effects on male life history than previously envisaged, resulting in the build-up of mutations that cause males to age faster, and live shorter lives than females.
Mother's Curse.

The women living longer than men have been stay-at-home mothers who smoked a whole lot less. I wonder how much the difference in life expectancy will change once the generations where women are as common in the workplace as the men, and smoke about the same, become old.

Men are more violent in nature and loves to compete. More common that men die young in traffic accidents, other accidents or in violent criminal acts or wars. Drags the average down.

Also ofc older men that has gotten fat/worn down and still try to act like younger men often develop heart conditions and go down. Women probably put up a better fight never to go really over-the-hill and even if they do, they would mostly take it easy

I'm going with higher testosterone leads to more aggressive, riskier, behavior. The highest concentration of testosterone receptor sites in the male anatomy is in the brain.

Looks as if naturally selection will kill men off sooner or later. Advancements in technology is making us more of a liability to the world as time goes on anyway.

Schools someday in the future will teach "Men" as a subject in history lessons.

Most Western history classes are basically The Story of the White Man's Rise

Yeah but it's not just that.

Once you get over the age of 80 it's 3/4 women left to men.

Men just don't live beyond 80/90/100 as often as women.
