Tennis Tipping – Los Angeles

What is Tennis Tipping?

In the game, participants pick the winners of all main draw matches and are placed in a knock-out system. That means each participant plays a different participant and whoever predicted the winner of most matches correctly, moves on to the next round. The same applies for doubles, but you're in a team format and your scores are combined.

Note:

- In case of a tie, a tie-breaker will decide who moves on to the next round.
New tie-break method: http://www.menstennisforums.com/showpost.php?p=4489037&postcount=1

- In case a player (i.e. the actual ATP Player) retires in a match, this match will be counted as long as one point has been played. If players are replaced by a lucky loser after the start of Tennis Tipping, these matches will be cancelled.

How to Sign-Up:

Just post here that you would like to play. You can only play one tournament per week. Entries will be based on ranking. Everyone can commit. :D

Please read this post for more information
http://www.menstennisforums.com/showpost.php?p=4423014&postcount=1

How to send in picks:

Picks can be sent in as soon as the draws are ready. Remember, you pick a winner in every match! Picks should be sent by PM, so that your opponent does not know your picks. Picks should be titled: [TT: Los Angeles, day #]. Picks can be sent in anytime until the beginning of play each day. If you're still in both singles & doubles, you use the same tips for both. For doubles, you still tip the ATP singles matches, not the doubles! No changes can be made after the play has started.

PRECAUTIONARY MEASURE

If the board goes down as has happened before, send your picks to hadary_95@hotmail.com

Re: Tennis Tipping Los Angeles - Monday OOP posted - Send picks by 7 pm CET

The rules state that it is advised that the manager of a tournament try and not play the same tournament they are managing. In the case of weeks where there is only one tournament, this is not possible. This week, there are two ATP level tournaments, so abollo could have played in Kitzbuhel. I believe this advisement was added this season...it is not a hard line rule, but it makes things easier.

That said...I still do not know why those picks this weekend were not accpeted if they were sent on time.

Re: Tennis Tipping Los Angeles - Monday OOP posted - Send picks by 7 pm CET

I have sent picks from Holmzy, Sonja1989, 156mphserve and CoolyBri to abollo.

Allez-Alejo: the picks were sent to the wrong person and FiBER's picks were also late.
Sending to the wrong person can cause trouble because if that person is not around to forward the picks on, the manager doesn't know if the person sent or not, he doesn't know how to add lucky losers. He has no choice but to assume that there are missing picks and puts in a lucky loser, then 7 hours later has to remove that lucky loser because the original player sent picks to the wrong person it just becomes a mess. So it's better not to accept them at all in my opinion.

Re: Tennis Tipping Los Angeles - Monday diffs posted

I was not his assistant, I was just posting OOP because abollo was busy that day.

I cannot be posting OOP AND forwarding picks to abollo in time for him to make differences before players yell at him. I am just doing a favour, once I post the OOP, my job is done. I have to make sure I'm available in my timezone to fulfil my other commitments managing other tournaments.

For a manager:

"Can someone post OOP?" and "Can someone take picks?" are two totally different functions with two totally different time commitments.

Re: Tennis Tipping Los Angeles - Monday diffs posted

God, why are there some players who cannot accept they screwed up? It's clear on the OOP to whom you should send your picks. If you send to the wrong person it's your responsibility, no one should accept them. It's as stupid as sending at the wrong time, or with wrong names, or with results that don't make sense in tennis. Stop trying to blame managers, saying they're "acting in bad faith" and questioning their integrity.

I screwed up. But if someone posts the OOP, and I send to that person, is somehow implied linked to the tournament... cos he/she is doing something only the manager or his assistant can do. Then, if the manager doesn't post the OOP himself/herself, they are screwing up as well, don't you think?

As I said, I screwed up, but so did the manager in the first place if you wanna go deeper.
Regarding the second part, if there is a rule, then it's breaking one. I dont mind, I don't think manager is acting in bad faith but everyone's entitled to their opinion. I dont like trolling managers for the sake of it, so I agree they should stop doing it, cos nothing good will come. He is playing, take it. I dont mind being left out, I m just giving my opinion. I dont think it was fair not to take my picks but it is his call. That's why I said for future references and I stand for it.

They didnt intend to send to the wrong person or screw with the manager...picks should just be accepted.
