Lopez 7-1 H2H against Ferrer on hardcourts. But Ferrer is a much more clutch player in tense situations, and has good memories of that court, reaching the TMC final in Shanghai a few years back.
In the end, the reality of being close to a Masters 1000 final got too much for Lopez, I think, with that horror game with 3DFs to hand the decisive third set break over. Ferru served it out comfortably.
Until that point it was a very nice, entertaining match with some good points and as much of a clash of styles as you're ever likely to see these days. The lighter ball meant Lopez was able to attack the net with great success as long as he hit good approaches and volleys, while Ferrer was able to dominate the baseline and do his best to pin Lopez back.
Very good fun, just a shame Lopez threw in that mental meltdown at the end.
There's something about Ferrer that is utterly annoying. Lopsided affairs are killing these Masters in the last years for me, even with the big 4 and all.
tennis is all about match ups......sorry, tennis is all about bad match ups only when it comes to nadal winning something......
mtf and action jackson don't talk about feli's single handed "match up disadvantage" against double handers because feli still is leading their head to head which is hilarious if we buy their explanation about match ups disadvantages......ferrer pounded that weakshit backhand of lopez all day, something what nadal does to every single hander on the planet......
Of course and no one should ever lose to a player ranked lower than them. Chela has to be better than Davydenko and Davydenko has to be better than Nadal
Very good match. Go on and win the title Pics, he deserves a MS. He does have days when he just doesn't post against the top 4 but if he can get into the match he might have a chance against a possibly tired Murray.
Unfortunate then, for Ferrer, Nishikori gave Andy a refreshing massage and a kiss on the cheek and sent him to the final more rested than he's been the last three weeks.
Ferrer will make the final more interesting. Lopez showed his mug skills in the last service game
