We will be long dead before any meteor comes crashing to Earth bringing hellfire and doom to everything......anyway counting down to this dud armageddon :yippee:
hehe. should realize how inaccurate the whole thing is anyway. Just a numerical coincidence. And even from our viewpoint can we really be sure year 0 was year 0? And why is that special anyway? Considering the sources from 2k years ago we might already be on year 2032 or what not if we really wanted to use birth of Jesus as a start. Probably few things as inaccurate as our calendar. Using that for predictions is like doing predictions from cow intestines or what not.
There have been changes in the Calendar back in history so I don't believe it will happen in 2012. But it makes for a great story Remember all the big deal about Y2K and nothing happened then either!
Mayan calendar actually doesn't predict the end of the world. It just predicts the end of a cycle. There have been a lot of controversies in regards to what this cycle actually is, but one of the common theories is the end of inter-glacial period and the Earth descending into true ice age. Even if there is truth in that, the process takes place over thousands of years, not days (stop watching The Day After Tomorrow, kids), so a reasonable guess is that nothing will happen in 2012.
So are you stockpiling bottled water and cans of tuna yet?
Note: please be careful how you phrase your posts in this thread. In spite of our inevitable collective destruction, you can still be banned for wishing death.
I know so many people have said it before, and whatever...
But you need to get your facts right before posting to the internet.
So many people WEIRDLY believe this shit, you all should get your facts right, actually is a very interesting fact.
Mayans were reaaaally smart people, but they NEVER said a thing about world ending at the end of this period.
This is a pretty serious thing for me, don't take me in the funny way, one of my best friends was really scared about all this shit, and it pisses me the fuck off what people did about this topic.
I am going to be spreading some mass panic the day before It would be just too irrisistible not to troll people. I look forward to staging a thing in one of my classes where all the students suddenly pretend to drop dead.
But still..I have a slight, nagging fear in my head that when I go to sleep on the 20th, I will never wake up.
I remember reading the theories in 2009, when "many" people actually took the 2012 doomsday theories seriously.
To be honest I would love for it to be true. Earthquakes, Tsunamis and other natural disasters always have fascinated me. For everything you have ever known to come to an abrupt end is beautiful in a way
Is there a specific time of day the world is supposed to end? Because looking at that clock it'd be 1 AM for me, but why 1 AM? It's not like when it's 1 AM here it's exactly midnight anywhere it the world and turning december 21st
If NASA said World is gonna end within a year, I'm sure most people would start spending all their savings knowing they won't need them anyway. But I'd see there a good chance to get rich. I'd take immediately a loan to buy a casino to get the money of people who are gambling like it's the last day of their life. And once it would've turned out that NASA had fucked up that prediction, I'd be the World's richest man whereas ppl like Bill Gates and Carlos Slim would've lost all their money at my casino.
