Re: Guga is back - Asuncion challenger thread

One of Guga's opponents recognized Guga was playing quite badly, hopefully Guga will play better in singles.. I guess Guga can't expect to play great after such a long layoff, especially since he's a type of player who needs a lot of matches and rhythm, but fortunately he's usually very positive and he won't give up:yeah: Tomorrow will be better, I'm sure of it:D!

Re: Guga is back - Asuncion challenger thread

Guga lost 6-4 6-4 :(

Many UE, and an evident lack of rythm, though he did make a good comeback in the second set from *1-4 to 4-4* (only to blow it serving at *4-5)

It's ok, it wasn't a beatdown, but please get your ass back on the tour asap Guga!

At least he played a competitive match, which he can be happy about:) Hopefully he doesn't feel any pain and can start to train more intensively;) How were his shots, shotgun? His backhand, forehand, serve, volleys, movement:p?

Overall, everything was slower than usual, tbh I didn't notice that much difference from his match in February against Ghem.

He started the match a bit tight, not taking many risks, then his strokes and his serve improved with a few games. But they were very unstable, he would rip a FH over the line and in the next point he would just spray it. He also had trouble when his opponent put the pressure on him or varied plays. His volleys were ok, he didn't come up that much to the net, only a couple of times in the second set.

Re: Guga on the road back! Next stop: Rio.

He's playing the Copa Petrobras Masters exhibition this week in Rio. His first match is today against Younes El Aynaoui. Saretta and Hartfield are also in his group.

Check out the thread in the exhibitions forum for more info.

That must be SO tough for him to endure all those losses in a row, after being a winner all his career:sad:... He knows he can play much better than this, let's hope he'll find his game as soon as possible... Guga's positive attitude will be tested in the upcoming months;)
