The draw will be made today, I think. Really nervous. New surface, and not much match practice. :scared:

Hopefully, a good draw will ease that. :)

Do you think that it's a good sign or a bad sign that he's seeded 13 for the USO?
Are some of you supersticious like me? :scared:
I am supersticious as well Delsa but 13 is a lucky number... ;)
Btw thanks for the translation of the article, I was a bit lazy!

Good luck Richard :worship:
This si not a bad draw. Hopefully, he will have recovered from his injury *crossed fingers* and will take advantage of this draw.

I saw the draw this morning and was actually pretty happy with it compared to other Richard draws. I'm a bit nervous about the arm injury but hopefully it will be fully healed by the time he has to play his 1st round match. I mean his 1st round match might not be until Wednesday so that's a long rest (Why the US Open spreads the men's 1st round matches over three days is beyond me.)

Allez Richard

Alberto Martin is a claycourtspecialist, but can sometimes play on hardcourt too...
But this should be no problem for Richy - hope he comes wide..when here in runs tennis since a long time:)
Mm so true.. But you know lately these days all the claycourt specialists are doing well on hard courts.. It's the case for me.. the slow red clay that I grew with helps with the hardcourt games.

Very reassuring news concerning Richard from today's L'Equipe! :yeah:

Gasquet a repris
_ F. Ra.

 That's better than the anectdote about him saying that he sweated so much that he had bubbles coming out of his shoes that Marine posted earlier... That's more flatering at least... :rolls:

Plus a little something about his first round opponent:

L'adversaire de Gasquet
.Alberto Martin .
.(Espagne)
.Vingt-sept ans, né le 20août 1978 à Barcelone
.1,75m; 73 kg
.Droitier, revers à une main
.Classement ATP: 61ème.
.Meilleur Classement: 34 ème (juin 2001)
.Palmarès: 3 titres (Casablanca, Bucarest en 1999, Majorque en 2001)
.Sa saison 2005: finale à Costa do Saoipe, demi-finale à Buenos Aires.

That little bit of news made my day! :woohoo: It seems that he'll be at the USO! ;)

Yeah but you beat me to it two times on other threads so that's ok, isn't it? ;)

Let's share the laugh!
Here's a translation:

Gasquet returned
Richard Gasquet, who suffered from an inflammation of the right elbow, retook his racquet yesterday after a few days off. «I'm doing a lot better now.», he delighted at, not unhappy of his draw either that he qualified of «not too bad » (< at that... ). The programm of his return is very "classy". Yesterday, he hit the ball with Safin on the Louis-Armstrong court, the central bis of Flushing Meadows. Today, he "gives his cue" to Hewitt. And when Rusedski came to ask him to be his sparring-partner for a practice session, the "very demanded" Frenchman who didn't know which way to turn, had to politely decline the invitation: «Sorry but no, Greg. I'm already practising with someone...». _ F. Ra.

Pfff! :haha: Better than the bubbles anectdote, i told you! The way they put it make it sound as if they were teasing Richard so much...lol!

Yeah, but i hope he's not bluffing too much and really feels at least a little bit better...Of course he can't not give it a try with a draw like that. But we're not fooled. Tendinitis does not heal in a heartbeat...

(I sound so pedantic! ...Sorry)
I knew i shouldn't have been so euphoric! What we feared the most, since we heard about these chronical pains in the elbow without admiting it, happened...In today's L'Equipe, Deblicker says that Richard suffers from a beginning of the famous "Tennis Elbow" (or lateral epicondylitis)! :hysteric: Catastrophic news! He says he can only train 1h30min a day, can't serve properly etc...So his participation at the USO is in doubt again!
In this case, players have to stop playing completely, rest their elbow and get "intensive care" so that it heals completely and doesn't become something chronical that they'll have to deal with for the rest of their life and career...:sobbing:
The only treatment is a complete rest of the tendons plus some injections. Sometimes for more than a year! What a blow! I hope it won't stop his progression too badly...
Infos about it there: http://www.tennis-elbow.net
I don't like what i read... :crying2: :scared:

OK from one feeling to another...(my heart won't stand it...).
Apparently he's still supposed to play. But still the alert is here...:scared:

I don't like this new too!! Poor Richard :hysteric:

Richard was at arnaud clement's match (quallies) with paulo. Nice of them to support the friends. It seems he's permanency with his cell phone at ears ! lol

Richard :( I thought you only get tennis elbow when you play with the wrong technique... Maybe it's the unorthodox backhand.

I think he might be able to win one or two rounds but when he faces big servers like Ljubicic or Roddick, his elbow might not be able to take it...

I don't know. He has a good draw and it would be nice for him to pick up a few points, but not at the expense of his career.

Exactly. I would rather him not play at all then become more seriously injured. I'm really worried about his tennis elbow now. I want Richard to play the Open, but I don't want him to hurt himself more.

Richard :bigcry:
