Dr Gonzalez: "He will have to rest for at least 3 months."
The reporter first asks the doctor what the difference is between tendinitis and tendinosis. Tendinitis basically means tendon inflammation and happens to young people; but when a tendon has been subjected to a lot of forces you don't get an inflammation but degeneration of the tendon (and that's what Rafa has now). It is serious for the progression of the player. In the case of Nadal, he's been having this type of problem for a long time. He is being treated by the best specialists in the country but logically the only alternative he has is to rest, rest, rest. The doctor thinks that he must get complete rest from the sport for a minimum of 3 months and then he can see a possible improvement.
At the level of Nadal, getting cured from this lesion is a very difficult proposition. He suffers from chronic pain, tendon degeneration; the goal is to make this tendon degeneration less painful and not let it prevent him from competing professionally. Curing it completely is impossible because additionally the tendon creates problems and pains in the whole knee joint.
They are hoping he will recover to is previous level. He will have to play less though.
Okay, we need to post more. Oh, know what I heard yesterday? My niece, who'll be 4 in December, already learned how to ride a bike without the training wheels

Pffft....wake me up when they can win when it matters.
Then again, it's always good to beat the Dutchies. -
4-2 no less.
To be fair: some of the Dutch football experts said that it would almost be a crime for the Belgian team to not qualify for the next worldcup because they're a joy to watch and they added that this is a team the entire world will want to enjoy.
I'm currently ignoring Mikey for going into overdrive for weeks and weeks and weeks (gloating, trolling too much on MTF, excessive gif posting, glory hunting, more gloating).

Metis, I hadn't read that description about Rafa's knees that you quoted. It's no great surprise but it's so sad to think that he must often play with that pain. I hope he can at least win RG next year again after resting properly this year :awww:
Apparently that doctor report about Rafa's knees was fake  Good news
