TP gets a 63 64 win over Jarmere Jenkins to clinch his spot in the Charlottesville $50,000 Challenger final qualy round. He will play Eysseric of France.
Wildcards Todd Paul and Cory Parr drew top seeds Huey and Mankad in the doubles first round.
Todd drew Ryan Harrison in the md He could have drawn Scoville Jenkins, Kevin Kim or Zemlja. Winnable match. That's what I like to see. I hope TP can get to play at his best. Having played 3 days in-a-row and a doubles match later today will be tough. Tourney shold have given them a break but Todd will grind.
So he is 2nd match on court 9 and then he has a night doubles match vs. 1 seeds Huey (world #13_) and doubles specialist Harsh Mankad, just a few spots away from the top 100.
After the weird draw, Todd falls to Cory 67 76 57. Great match between 2 great friends and roomies. Tough situation and really a tough draw. I think the winner of this will qualify
Singles: Round 1- Todd Paul USA def. (2) Daniel Evans GBR (259) 7-5, 6-3
Doubles: Round 1- (3) Todd Paul/Cory Parr USA def. WC's 62 62
Todd upsets the #3 Brit and 2nd seed Daniel Evans to advance to the 2nd round in singles in a $15,000 future!! Huge win
Todd and Cory extend there doubles winning streak to 9 consecutive wins. They will be going for there 3rd title in-a-row, 4th consecutive finals appearance, 4th doubles title of 2010, *deep breath* and 8th doubles title as a team.
