Well I'd say he's up there. The best? Thats an impossible statement to make really. Very difficult (impossible really) to compare top athletes in different sports.
I'd say Messi is the best sportsman on the planet ATM. Just opinion though
He is a hero to Serbia, he has been for a very long time since he first burst into the top 10, this guy is a great example and sportsman for Serbia and his loving dear fans.
Tough to say. Had he been dominant after the US Open last year, certainly a much better case could be made like with Federer 2004-2007. Of course he is up there, but the end of 2011 kind of put a rather annoying blemish to his historic season. Of course he has continued to dominate at the slams, but the consistency even at the smaller events is needed IMO.
Tennis is my fav sport so the best tennis player is the best sportsman in the world.
Nole won DC, while Messi doesn't perform for Argentina much, Bolt is in kind of a slump, the F1 guys aren't impressive, the box dude and his bro are boring....so yeah, even from an objective point of view he is the man.
I think this comes down to picking maybe between Djokovic, Messi, Vettel and Bolt.
Out of these two, Djokovic and Messi have the strongest cases at this point in time. I await with great anticipation Bolt's ventures at the Olympic Games.
Novak Djokovic is currently the best tennis player in the World. That's it.
How do you argue that Djokovic is better than Messi or vice verse? It's impossible.
The 6 hours long Austrailian Open match was fantastic. Unbelieveable. Nadal was hitting returns averaging 72MPH in the 1st set and averaging 75MPH in the 5th set. That's how hard he was playing, even faster at the end than the beginning. Neither player even took a bathroom break, let alone called for a medical break.
Novak brings so much more to tennis than just pure skill. He brings more personality, intelligence and humor to the game than any other player in the history of tennis.
Ever notice how the entire grand slam audience shifts to attention and just seems primed to LAUGH when Novak makes his acceptance speech? Let's face it - the other top players speeches are boring compared to Novak and the audience reflects that.
When you listen to Novak's indepth and fluent (English) coverage of the questions he is asked; sorry but Rafa just sounds like a noob when it comes to Novak and Federer isn't much better.
Yes Novak is the greatest tennis player and athelete in the world right now. He is definitely raising the level of the game, in every way and he will be unforgettable in the future.
