Roig/Carbonell may have been a good team, but I doubt Roig ever made such a big impact upon Canadian viewers that they will want to see him.
Would it matter to the viewers if Nadal had played with say Marc Lopez? I'm sure it wouldn't. If they go to that doubles match they'd do it because they want to see Nadal
and their partners are of no interest no matter if they are Roig/Vemic/Lopez/etc nobody. TBH Rafa's decision to team up with his coach looks strange to me and is something I can't fathom. But that's the benefit of being named Rafael Nadal - sometimes you get what you want.
