It really was a poor match from both. I was also surprised to see that David apparently didn't do too much tactical homework about Kiefer. Kept serving to his backhand in the first set, which is Kiefer's strength anyway, plus he returns very well off that wing. Later on though, David changed it. He also didn't give Kiefer as many chances to come to the net as in the beginning.
But if tomorrow he plays and especially serves anywhere near what we've seen from him today, then...
