  • Here is the list of players who have won an ATP title and personal number of tournament in which they did it for the first time. Four players (Doumbia, Altur, Lapentti & Ventura) captured first titles in their first ATP tournaments. Vincent Spadea had had to play the most tournaments (223) before took his first title (Julien Benneteau could tie this record in his 223rd main-level tournament, but squandered a match point in the Kuala Lumpur '13 final, dropping to 0-9 in ATP finals). The list takes into account players who began their pro careers in the Open Era (born not earlier than in 1950):

Bold: active players
Blue: players who reached No. 1 in the world, career titles beside nationality

# "I was ranked in or near the top 20, and you can't find many players who have reached that level without winning a title," said Spadea
# Among No. 1, Federer played the most tournaments to win his first title
# There are possible mistakes... I used the ATP data counting tournaments, over the years some tournaments disappeared (of the 70s), others weren't included as they should have been (Davydenko in Madrid '08 for instance)
