Default Re: Mayer-Escude, who will win?

Flori lost 3-6 4-6 4-6

Florian was killed by Escudé whose serve and volley game was poison for Mayer and his style.
Escudé played a very good match and served well, Mayer could not deliver another performance as he did against Gonzo. Escudé's style was too different and too good.

Justine:
1st serve speed average: 160 km/h
fastest serve: 176 km/h
height: 165 cm

Florian:
1st serve speed average: 172 km/h
fastest serve: 187 km/h
height: 195 cm

Andy Roddick:
1st serve speed average: 192 km/h
fastest serve: 216 km/h
height: 187 cm

If you look at the stats you can see what Mayer has to improve in his game, he is a man and about 30cm taller than Justine but he is hitting just a few km/h faster than Justine and compared to the best serve in this tournament (Roddick) Mayer is outgunned by about 20 to 30 km/h in comparison to Roddick.

That difference ist just too big, a player of his height has to serve better and get stronger in this category. I hope he will improve because the rest of his game looks promising even though he had no chance today against Escudé.

Mayer has to get physically stronger.
