PARMAR QUITS PROFESSIONAL RANKS
Former British Davis Cup player Arvind Parmar has announced his retirement after 10 years as a professional.
The 28-year-old from Hitchin reached a career-high world ranking of 137 in 2000 but many in the sport feel that he never fulfilled his potential.
Parmar said: "I feel I've stagnated in terms of improvement over the last couple of years.
"The time is right for me to move on and 28 is a good age to start a new chapter in my life."
He added: "I always said that if I lost the motivation to keep training and enjoying the game that I owed it to myself to stop playing.
"I'm lucky that it's been entirely my choice. I haven't had to make the decision because of injury or another reason.
"A lot of players don't have a choice in the matter."
