Fourth-seeded David Ferrer, in contention for one of the six remaining qualifying berths for Tennis Masters Cup Shanghai, advanced to the second round of the If Stockholm Open on Monday.
Ferrer made it three career wins out of three against Andreas Seppi of Italy with a 6-1, 6-4 win in one hour and 18 minutes. Ferrer currently No. 12 in the INDESIT ATP 2006 Race and a winner of one ATP title in Stuttgart this year improves his ATP-level match record to 39-22. He will play either Spanish compatriot Feliciano Lopez or Juan Monaco in the second round.
