Holland never had much success in atlethics since Fanny Blankers-Koen. She arguably happened to be the greatest female athlete ever (winning 4 gold medals in the 1948 olympics).
Ever since, Dutch track and field success has been incidental, but very limited. Rens Blom won a fluke gold medal at the last World Championships in the pole vault and Ellen van Langen won gold at the 800 meters in Barcelona 1992. That's about it.

Apart from Smith you can look out for Simon Vroemen (steeple chase), Lornah Kiplagat (10k), Karin Ruckstuhl (if you're Swedish, you might know her as one of the women fighting for second place at the heptathlon) and Bram Som (800m).

I'm from Belgium so I know most of the dutch athletes. I always watch the dutch tv because belgian tv sucks
