Kryvonos Wins Title In Laval
Sherbrooke, March 26th, 2006 – Unseeded American Nikita Kryvonos won
4-6, 7-5, 6-3 over sixth seed Robin Haase, from the Netherlands, to claim the
singles title at Laval’s $10,000 National Bank Futures. It is Kryvonos’s first
title as a professional.
It was a first loss in eight matches for Haase who was a finalist in Laval two
weeks ago and won the title in Sherbrooke last Sunday.
“My confidence level grew after each match I played this week”, confided
the 20 year old champion who eliminated the second and third seeds in order
to reach the final. “I was relxed mentally and it helped me to come back
strong after losing the first set. I had to turn things around, so I decided to
play more agressively and came up to the net every chance I had. Robin
started showing signs of fatigue, which is quite normal for a guy who played
so many matches in only three weeks. I stuck with my game plan and
registered my most important win as a pro so far.”
