Paradorn ousts Nalbandian to enter Indian Wells QFs

INDIAN WELLS CA USA, March 15, 2006
Asian's singles number 1 Paradorn Srichaphan of Thailand recoverd smartly after losing the first set to upset Argentine's 4th seed David Nalbandian 6-7(5), 6-3, 6-2 in the men's singles fourt round at the $US2,100,000 Pacific Life Open in Indian Wells, USA on Wednesday.

After losing a tight first set tie-breaker 6-7(5), the Thai 27-year-old put up a valiant fight, breaking the Argentine in the sixth game and took the contest into the decider with a 6-3 second set win. Paradorn who blasted 13 aces, continued his dominate play in the third set and managed another two breaks before prevailing 6-2 which lasted 2 hours and 20 minutes. The Thai sets up quarter-finals clash against No. 22 seed Jarkko Nieminen of Finland who recorded 6-4, 6-3 victory over Russian Marat Safin in other fourth round.

An in-form Paradorn played great tennis since the first round.
