Australian Open Round 3

Nishikori won 17 of the last 18 games to beat American Donald Young 7-5, 6-1, 6-0. The Japanese No. 1 had trailed 2-5 in the first set before taking control of the match to prevail in one hour and 47 minutes.

The 24-year-old Nishikori reached his first Grand Slam quarter-final at Melbourne Park two years ago, losing to Andy Murray. The right-hander is working this year with American coach Michael Chang.

"He's giving me a lot of good advice," said Nishikori. "He knows a lot of players. He gives me good tips for the tactics and stuff. I think we've been working, doing well. He's giving me confidence, too. So I think it's going well."

Kei Nishikori celebrates winning his third round match against Donald Young during day six of the 2014 Australian Open at Melbourne Park on January 18, 2014 in Melbourne, Australia.
