I haven't ever heard of someone having finger pain. You should always keep your finger grip on the handle loose, so that you can "play the piano" i.e. lift your fingers up and down off the grip like playing the piano.

Are you playing more lately? It sounds like an issue that's been caused outside of tennis, and tennis is a vehicle for that pain to show its ugly head.
