That's not even close. These are different times. All those players, with exception of maybe of Davydenko (who is nowhere near as popular as Fed/Rafa/Nole/Murray/Delpo etc.) did not play in the information/digital age. Now one comment is read by everyone in minutes. When Lendl said stuff about players/expressed controversial opinions, only knowledgeable tennis fans would read/know about it. Now everyone is bombarded with information ALL THE TIME. If Federer and/or Nole say something controversial, I'd bet you that you wouldn't be able to go on internet for more than 5 minutes without finding out about it. That is why top players nowadays are so careful about what they say.
