If Murray were the real world #2, he would have no problem beating the real World #3 and World #1 back to back, because he wouldn't have had to beat the World #2 and World #1 back to back - a task which, according to the writer, destroyed his chances of Murray winning the AO. In other words, this mug's "argument" is self-defeating.
And no, "most" people do not regard him as world #2 - unless "most" means some random British tennis journalist.
