Ferrer is good on clay, and Gasquet beat Fed at Rome the year before. Raonic was a little more puzzling but his kick serve on clay is tremendous, much like Isner's against Fed in Davis Cup.
But yep, he didn't play very well at all on clay last year, definitely room for improvement.
