STOCKHOLM, Sweden -- A shoulder injury that looked likely to keep Joachim Johansson out of Sweden's Davis Cup match against France is healing well and he may play after all, captain Mats Wilander said Monday.
"Because Pim-Pim feels much better in his shoulder he is here competing for a place in the team," Wilander said in a statement.
Seven-time Davis Cup winner Sweden plays France in a World Group first-round tie on indoor clay in Strasbourg between March 4-6.
Johansson, 11th in the world rankings, was not named when Wilander picked his team last week because of a nagging shoulder injury which doctors said required rest.
If fit, Johansson is likely to play singles for Sweden alongside either Thomas Johansson or Thomas Enqvist.
Doubles specialists Jonas Bjorkman and Simon Aspelin and Michael Ryderstedt are the other members of the team.
"Nobody is a shoe-in and we're trying to get everyone here into as good shape as possible," said Wilander, who has until Thursday to finalize his lineup.
