Yes, this is the first time there have been more than 12 players ranked in front of Americans attending at any one slam. The last time this happened was Annacone at 13 attending the Australian Open in 1988. McEnroe and Connors didn't show. If you count Lendl as American, then this is the first time ever, that there hasn't been an American, naturalized or otherwise, not in the top 10 at a slam since the Open era began.
